This is an history of the Trans-Am series between 1966 and 1995.

I recommend to watch the first 40 minutes : Great drivers, iconic muscle cars, good stories...

Bonus : the 30 feet-fuel tank used at St.Jovite by the Penske Racing (22'20'' - 22'40'')

That crafty RP

Great racing. Great memories. I was a pit steward for a 67 race. Got to spend three days with Donohue prior to his Dark days. Probably Penske’s worst race –everything went wrong for the team. For instance, the car was running super fat and badly needed rejetting. I couldn’t comment of course, but chatting with a mechanic I asked if they ever went under the hood. He said that the engine had been dyno tuned a Traco and couldn’t be improved on. But they were racing at 6000 ft. Several other “failures” were fixed promptly but, as I say, one of their less impressive outings.

I was also in the paddock for the 1970 Riverside race. At the time I was sad that Dan retired. Now I’m very glad he did. That race sort of ended the series for me

A big tribute to Mark Donohue, a small to Dan Gurney and a special one for a 1967 transam sedan race steward...
