so any more information about what this info for? Sim racing or a real car?
Sim racing essentially. Just joined a virtual team and we have a setup engineer who really goes the extra mile to produce good solid setups for us,
Everyday he´ll give us a setup, we do some laps, share our opinion and he analyzes the data then gives us another one.
First race is Sebring, 90 minute race, should be fun, can post the broadcast here if you guys want to see ;)

In that case you need the unsprung mass of the sim model not the actual car

What is he calculating then?
Not the engineer at Force India

Well the sim car is built with data from the actual car :)

I believe it´s (and i might get the term wrong) dynamic camber?

Wow... that gives a whole new meaning to 'going the extra mile'. I was under the impression that you are building a sim model of the car yourself :)

Yea he´s hardcore when it comes to telemetry, setups etc :)

Pretty fun as a driver to give input, get a new set and feel the difference on track.
Got the front end sorted now and it turns in like it was on rails.
Next is better stability under power out of slower corners and fiddle some with downforce levels on the rear wing.

First race is on Sebring 4th of April so we are quite early out but it´s mainly to find the sweet spots of the car.
The track being laserscanned i know understand what drivers go through there, it´s like no other track in the world when it comes to bumps.

I'm impressed that you managed to get that data, well done!

The only hitch is that it is only valid if the game authors also used the same data.

I believe the actual data is from Mclaren themselves. Regulations the car follows is FIA 2012 August regulations,
And the car laserscanned is the United Autosports one. Sound from that car as well i think.

Only differences that i know of from Blancpain and FIA 2012 are 120/130L fuel tank, locked gear ratios and locked diff, only preload is allowed to change.

dusted up for the laser,

We managed to get the C6.R GT1 unpsprung corner weights as well, pretty neat.

Nando,

i admire your dedication!

i am an "ex" race engineer and since some time an rF modder, i can tell you didn´t need to go so far if you wanted that info! :D

in rF for example you can find them among the car files into your GAMEDATA folder!

Morever, a good race engineer with some knowledge about the sim modeling language could make a very good setup even before to go on the track with the info in that files. In rF they actually define in details tyre, aero, suspensions, engine etc behaviour.

I can quite surely say that to set up a car in a driving simulator (in rf at least, don´t know about the sim you use, but probably it is the same if the files are not cripted) is much easier than in the real life...or at least, it´s easy to know very well the car without even going at the workshop to measure a single component!

Of course, if then the simulated car is close to the real one it´s another story! :D

Which championship are you racing in, by the way?

I think all files are crypted unfortunately :S
It´s not as open as Rfactor or even has modding and is strictly an online game.

Thanks i will participate in a series called STC Simracing Teams Challenge,

http://stc.racedepartment.com/

and game site:
http://www.iracing.com/

17 teams signed up already, some of the fastest sim racers will participate in the series.
Let´s say 3000 people set a quick laptime of a certain track, most of us would fit in the Top 50, some guys Top 5 or higher.

It will be tough but we are out early, races will be broadcasted so i can let you guys know if you want to watch a race sometime.

Motec is the choice of the setup engineer, i´m barely starting to learn ATLAS, basically at the point of comparing lap times and deciphering the data based on that but i´m very new to the whole thing.

I applied for a job at north hampton where they were machining the engine block and heads for mclaren, and i could swear the motor is licensed reproduction of the oldsmobile aurora engine in a similar style of build to the indy lights minus the alchohol injection (it had the dry sump cast in like race block).
I'm sure you could source a road car engine from usa and set it up in a similar style, if it is a clone engine as i believe it to be?
