Force India VJM06 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Interesting monkey seat indeed.

Rather a bulbous nose on this FI car. Glad to see a modesty panel on the car.

PDR cutting a lonely figure too.
You meant to say Macca/Ferrari style exhaust... :P

Ferrari copied Mclaren but tweaked it, Mclaren simply evolved theirs.

Ferrari started out with an LSD setup,

Sidepod undercut is not as extreme as last years. I wonder why... shorter sidpods ? different cooling method ? different Kers layout ?
(angles may fool ones eyes. But new sidepods do have a larger footprint on the floor

The cutouts in the rear wing end plate (leading edge) are interesting and it is the first time i notice holes in this position.
Has any team done this before?

Does it reduce drag or what is the effect od this?
Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

Williams last year pionneered it. Then some races later FI copied them.

The first pic reminded me of the ugly duckling.

F1 car width now 2.0m (same as 1993-1997). Lets go crazy and bring the 2.2m cars back (<1992).

When I saw it in the first page I wanted to post THIS picture because to me it looked like a more refined version of the Marrusia like what you're expect them to have this season if they evolve last seasons...

It would be illegal to get track time in last year's car so you can throw that theory out straight away...

Aren't these just legalising strakes? A few teams have run them since 2009.
