Internet Radio Race Feed

Post

Does anybody know where an American can listen to the race? I know the BBC has a feed, but I've had problems getting it in the past. I thought someone out there might know something I don't. I suppose this is sort of last minute, but any help would be great.

SPEED TV has the exclusive rights for American broadcasting of Formula One. It is a digitial subscription service; this can be one of the reasons why the sport isn't so popular in America.

Back when I didn't know anything about F1 I used to watch it on Fox Sports... forgot if it was World or NET.

Correct, Speed TV does have the rights, they show the qualifying, races, and sometimes practice. However, they are not only digital. You can get the channel on "normal" cable service.

Yeah, should have mentioned that. In Irvine we can get it on "normal" cable but in San Diego (my actual home) we have to order it through digital cable. All in all, SPEED is found through any kind of cable service, which could limit its audience in the States.

In Europe, is F1 broadcast through "national" tV?

if you wanna know how to get f1 popular .. look at asia dude.. their the regular basic cable sports channel shows qualifying and the race and regular f1-news shows. There are bars and restaurants based on the sport and people come together at race times to see it together. man that's waht i call a game! Can't believe that US lacks the passion for this sport while detroit has been the motor capital for more than a century now!!!

We did have races in Detroit in the 80's but I think they were pretty sh*tty... also in Phoenix, Arizona but all the turns were 90 degrees... if we were going to host such races (back then) then it's no surprise the sport became unpopular. I heard Watkins Glen was pretty good.

Chrysler used to build Lamborghini engines, then named them Chrysler when they ran w/ Scuderia Italia and possibly others.

The sport is most likely unpopular since we don't have an American driver and that F1 is restricted to cable viewers. When my roommates watch me watch F1 videos, they don't get interested because they don't know who anybody is except Michael Schumacher.

Well I decided to try my "own" webcast

I'm going to try and play the Canadian TSN TV commentary by Martin Brundle. If anyone wants to test it,
go to http://www.shoutcast.com/ and search for F1. You should find "F1 TSN Martin Brundle Commentary"
and should be able to listen in with Winamp.

Let me know if it works and if it's any use to anyone, it should be on around the race time. 8)

anybody having any luck with shoutcast?

Post

I hate to complain since arisen is being so generous, but listening to your shoutcast, I get about 5 seconds of sound and 20 seconds of silent buffering.

Is anybody else having similar luck? Any possible solutions?

Just trying to offer some feedback. The effort is truly appreciated.
