McLaren MP4-28 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Reminder - If it's not on the car, then it's not in this thread! Several Posts have been moved to the testing tread.

For people new to the forum...
  • Testing & race threads for timing info & race chatter
  • Car threads should be about the physical features of the car
  • Team threads for conversations about the team - people, sponsorship, management etc.
  • We have a special fanboy thread for cheering on your team, prophecies, and trolling  http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... f=3&t=7520

Interesting detail on the exhaust cutout. I suppose that's the FIA 'cone' vs where they really want the cutout to go?

Is that an air pressure sensor, that stolen-from-a-Dyson black tube running across the top of the diffuser?

Isn't that the Gurney flap?

That's the boot :p

Is it just me or does the McLaren look tidier and simpler than Ferrari and Red Bull? Maybe it's just the livery.
Finally, everyone knows that Red Bull is a joke and Max Verstappen is overrated.

That is in my head from the start of the test sessions. Looks super simple and DAMN FAST. Every part is like continue from other... and nothing unused. Perfection for me!

Nice clear shot of the diffuser. It surprises me how uninteresting the McLaren is this year. I've gotten used to blown wings, moose antler side pods and the like. Looks like they've instead concentrated on refinements - unless they've got something crazy hidden away under the body work, that is.
