Totally agree with xDama. It's sad to see Mercedes-Benz having just 1 victory after three years. The Brackley based team will have to step it up. Is the arrival for 2014 of highly touted Paddy Lowe from McLaren the missing link?

It would be nice to see some extra engines, but as teams they can and should stay away from F1 as far as possible. Each and every team of those manufactures was a failure, one bigger then the other. The latest big failure in the making is Mercedes.
Mercedes has 1 win and five podiums in three years, not a great return on investment, but not too bad. Too early to write them off as a failure, although they have been dissapointing.

I'd hardly call BMW a failure either. Taking Sauber from mid/back of the grid and making it the third strongest team in F1 for a couple of years isn't failing. One win and 17 podiums in four years is pretty good.

Toyota could be considered a failure: no wins and only 13 podiums in eight years. Although I think as much of that was down to their driver policy as it was to the cars themselves.

Honda as a race team were probably a failure (although they had their moments), but as an engine manufacture they've been damned successful.

Why red bull only to some degree? Just curious what's your reasoning.

I think that's a very odd choice of teams for that criteria. I don't think there are ANY teams that are only in F1 to boost sale-figures. That' would be a ridiculous waste of money. Of course there are advertising advantages, but if that's all you're after there are much better ROI opportunities out there than running an F1 team.

That's the Minardi rear wing Kravitz's mentioning in the vid.

From http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/ ... 4/169.html
"The large vertical slit - Minardi were the first to introduce this last season - remains, lessening drag and raising the efficiency of the wing's lower profile."
So it was there since 2005, but nobody discovered it.

Thanks, didn't know that.
Can you remember which year it was when Renault tried this rear wing slot?

Has he done an outlap? Names don't show unless they've been out on track once.
