yes, sure looks like it! but very strange considering you hardly see flames being spat out these days...even more surprising since he seems to be pulling into his pit box, so he most likely won't be downshifting and won't be aggressive on the throttle either! and, i doubt a misfire would spit out a big fireball like that!!!
I'd say he was pulling into his pitbox because of the fire, rather than the fire starting in the pits.

teams could be testing different engine maps i guess which could be causing it. maybe they need to tune things slightly as well (overruns etc within the rules)

OfficialSF1Team Great effort from @EstebanGtz: 1:18.669 on soft tyres, which put him in second place!

yup..that sounds likely, although i can't recollect when i last saw a flame in modern f1!! i guess there is some difference between dyno maps and track maps as well which are visible like this!!??
i guess next year is going to be a visual treat with so many new powertrain variables! =P~

Hmm could this mean the end of testing for today? How long does concrete take to dry?

If Gary Anderson is right about RedBull's downforce then it's going to be a boring season at the front...
"I'm out on the track watching the cars and it looks like the Red Bull has 10% more downforce than anything else. The McLaren still has constant understeer through the corners, the Mercedes has understeer on entry and then the rear snaps on exit, while the Lotus looks well balanced. The Ferrari is in the pits having its gearbox changed so we can't get a comparison with that."

It also sounds like the Mercedes is a bit of a handful and might not be to Hamilton's taste if he has to wait for the front end on corner entry. If he needs to get aggressive to get the desired turn-in then he could find this year's tyres a problem. Hopefully, for his sake, Mercedes can dial out some of that understeer. A snappy tail might be less worrying for him than excessive understeer.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Regarding lap times - is there a good website that keeps track of the respective laptimes and specifically, which tyres were used to achieve them?

Also, with DRS only being allowed on the straight throughout the race weekend - how are teams using it during testing? I guess we can assume that DRS is (can be) used everywhere as it is for testing - though it does put some question marks about some times...

E.g. Vettels 1:18.565s on hards - which seems quite impressive. Any chance (or info) if DRS was used all the way (or at all) perhaps compared to other times where perhaps DRS wasn't used as frequently? Or are we just assuming that the best lap of every team is under the best circumstances, e.g. a relatively hot lap with DRS in as much places as possible on a set of tyres so there are as comparable as they can be for the pre-season testing at Jerez?
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

f1tests.info is a very good site for lap by lap timings. It is down at the moment, hopefully just a snag. No site provides data on tyres though, you might want to follow teams on twitter for that, and autosport live commentary.

Regarding DRS usage during testing, all the teams have agreed to use it only on the main straight.

Again Raikkonen with one of the lowest lap counts, and hasn´t resumed running yet :?: Could they be saving mileage for barcelona?

Teams regularly run the equivalent of 2 times the season's race distance, just through testing. What mileage would he save?
