Are you guys done talking a out those laptos thank you..

Button showing great form with a very productive day and McLaren fast right out of the Box. Tomorrow we get to see Sergio Perez continue the work programe and measure up in a McLaren up agasint;

Fernando Alonso
Sebastian Vettel
Lewis Hamilton
Kimi Raikkonen

Perhaps a glimps at what and where Perez is at in relation to Last year. Who knows tho because you cant know what work schedule the other teams might be running or even McLaren. It will be fun to see if he too can be the fastest tomorrow with a stronger string of opponents out on track..

Also can we not post lesser teams pictures on this thread its one thing to mention them but.. What ever..

logically... the people who won actually because the mistakes of others..... vettel win because of other drivers mistake..... other drivers win because of vettel mistakes... *lol* what a different? this should not be a case.....
No what I meant is Hamilton could content for the title not because of his car or his team but because of the others not doing their job.
This year Vettel wins because McLaren didn't do its job at all, and Alonso was contender because of 2 alternators and a fantastic drive. But not a fantastic car or team. In 2011 Vettel won because RBR and him did their job.

There is always a few mistake by the driver and the team and some misfortunes. Some just does more mistakes than the others. But saying that a man has a good car and lost his opportunity on the title juste because of 2 mistakes while the others done far more? Naaah.
It is just like saying "Alonso lost 2012 WC because of Grosjean and a mistake at Suzuka" (or the other Lotus depending of the PoV). He didn't lost it: it is just the car that was not supposed let him compete for the title! Same with the MP4-25 which was only an "above average" car. It never really could compete for victories (except maybe on 3 or 4 races, mostly wet), it only take advantage of others numerous mistakes.

The first post-2009 real championship contender built by McLaren is the 27. And they screwed up.

He was way slower then Button but then again I really know nothing about what program's they each had. I hope he gets quicker don't like to see McLaren out of top 3.....

How about it's because McLaren fans are able to respect that this is a technical forum, where we post if we have technical information/discussion, not simply to make the page count for our favourite car really high.

Most reliable hardware you can find. I saw Thinkpads on the hand of a world level volleyball coach, in F1, at IBM (of course) and a acquaintance of mine uses it on some Africa's mines without any issue despite the dust.
Definitely the best business laptops out there. Ergonomics, design, engineering, quality of materials used and construction are all best in the industry.
Other than the keyboard, my Thinkpad is a enormous piece of ---. If i were rich, I'd fly to China and smash it to bits in the Lenovo foyer.

Its down to the sponsorship, every team has a technology "partner", McLaren happen to have Lenovo.

I am still using a T410s. I have to say except for the screen. The new SSD has given it a new lease of life.

Maybe your problems are software related. that was my case, I had some problems before but it turned out to be the auto-password program.

I want to know and find something about Mclaren engineers? What do you know about Mclaren engineering team? We suppose that Paddy Lowe is leaving for Mercedes... Has Mclaren enough value in their internal structure? I read that they had enough young engineers, but nothing concrete. Where is Mclaren's engineering team comparet to others teams? (Except Paddy, Tim Goss or Oatley). I heard that Ferrari and Mercedes has to engineering teams for 2013-2014 cars, and Horner said that they have not the same resource for this type of approach. What do you think about Mclaren's approach? I know that they are very secretive, but do you think they have the resources? Thanks :D

Confirmation from Macca.

"Tim Goss appointed Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Technical Director

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes is pleased to announce that Tim Goss, formerly the team’s Director of Engineering, has been appointed to the position of Technical Director, with immediate effect.

Tim joined McLaren in 1990 as a Development Engineer, and has been a central and successful stalwart of the team’s engineering and technical function ever since, leading car design operations since his elevation to Director of Engineering in January 2011.

Tim Goss said:

“I’m delighted to have been offered the Technical Directorship of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes – one of the most prestigious positions in global sport – and I’m greatly looking forward to making a significant contribution to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes’ ongoing success in that role.

“As before, I’ll be leading our car design operations, while continuing the process of evolving and improving our technical and engineering function in collaboration with Martin [Whitmarsh], Jonathan [Neale], Sam [Michael], Neil [Oatley] and the rest of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes’ hugely experienced technical and engineering team.”

Martin Whitmarsh added:

“I’d like to offer my congratulations to Tim on his new position, which, after more than 20 years of exceptional service for McLaren, he richly deserves.

“His quiet and unassuming persona conceals a fierce competitiveness and a wealth of experience, coupled to an unrivalled level of expertise in the field of Formula 1 car design and engineering.

“It’s a little-known fact, for example, that over the past 23 years he’s made crucial technical and engineering contributions to the winning of five of McLaren’s 12 Drivers’ World Championships and three of McLaren’s eight Constructors’ World Championships, and that he’s been the principal definer and developer of McLaren’s F1 car design function for more than five years.

“In line with what Tim has said, I firmly believe that our technical and engineering team is the best in the F1 business, and that its strength in depth has always been and will continue to be an important element of our on-track success.

“Moreover, I’m certain that, in his expanded role, Tim will continue to lead it very capably indeed, and will evolve and improve it. That’s his brief, and it’s already clear that he’s prepared to embrace it with energy and enthusiasm.

“In truth, though, this is a natural evolution in Tim’s already very successful career, and the fact that the decision to offer him our Technical Directorship was so straightforward for Jonathan and me demonstrates two things: the robust and logical succession-planning that underpins the senior engineering personnel structure within Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, and the commitment we have to developing our people, over many years, allowing their talent and expertise to flourish in a collaborative and collegiate environment.

“That’s good work practice, and it’s worth lap-time.

“Paddy [Lowe] will be performing a different role within McLaren until the end of the year. He’s been a good and successful F1 Technical Director, and we wish him well when he embarks on a fresh challenge in 2014.”
