Only one DRS zone in Suzuka (pit-straight.) I understand encouraging drivers to go side by side at 130R would be dangerous. But they could add a DRS zone between hairpin to Spoon.

The only difference I can see, is that you can use DRS now at some start/finish straights, but that's it.

Isn´t that way more double DRS zones then last year? I can´t remember we even had half as many Double DRS zones.

Imho they should have used the Blanchimont section of Spa instead of the start/finish straight.
Moreover why is there only one zone in Suzuka? Why not use the back straight aswell?

imo canada should have been out of the last corner, and into the hairpin. Ditto with Korea, using it on the pit straight and up to T4.

There's enough overtaking already in the Blanchimont section of Spa (see Vettel last year), no need to touch that area. I don't see why they need to have it at all on the pit straight quite honestly, last year's single DRS zone was more than enough IMO. I see this new pit straight DRS zone as potentially negating (or partially negating) the advantage of overtaking at the final chicane, unless the DRS detection zone is placed prior to the braking zone.

But I hope they ban DRS again in favour of a regulation similar to the one during the 80's turbo era. Then you had a limited amount of fuel and you could crank up the boost as you needed to pass other drivers. If you overdid it you didn't last the race.
And no, I don't care if we'd see a lot of tale wiggling...

Damn, the FIA still don't "get it" on when DRS works and when it doesn't.

They don't seem to understand that putting a DRS zone on a straight where most cars hit the limiter anyway does not actually help. Some examples:
Sepang – put the DRS zones on the small straight after turn 3, and out of the back hairpin.
China – put them on the straight after turn 2 and turn 9.
Spa – rather than the kemmel straight, put a short one going into radion.
Sazuka – put one on the way into the hairpin.

DRS zone shouldn't be in the most obvious overtaking place of the circuit. Except for some tracks like barcelona where there arent other practical places for it. I dont think Spa needs any artificial help to create a thrilling race, and there are other tracks aswell where overtaking is quite possible without the magic button. Two consecutive straights with DRS is just stupid. In Sepang it could be the first straight to get some action going on and then let the drivers battle it out on the pit straight fair and square. In Montreal the zone shouldnt be on the long straight, it just creates these free pass situations where the driver trying to defend is totally helpless.

Agreed %100. There should definitely be a zone after spoon...

Yes they blocked DRS in qualy and felt that somehow they needed to increase their allowed areas, stupid imo.

Are there 2 DRS activation points as well?

Circuits like Melbourne, Sepang, Canada, Budapest etc, the 2 zones are consecutive.

Other circuits like Bahrain, Catalunya, Silverstone.. They are split on each side of the track,

My point being at Sepang for instance, if an attacking driver uses DRS in the first zone, and passes, are they allowed to use it again in the next zone simply to pull further away?
If so, it doesnt seem to suit the purpose DRS was brought in for.

I would expect Bahrain, Spain etc to have 2 activation zones, Im just wondering about the other tracks.

Maybe they they think it will encourage people to setup the gearing different, seemed like last year especially the
Redbulls was geared to be fast without DRS, when they tried to use DRS to overtake they ran out of RPMs
