I really think the tire companies really need to come out with a much better wet tire than what we see today.
Today's rain is not exactly very heavy, but the car are just sliding everywhere.
The tires are not a problem, today they were on Intermediates at the end of Q1 where most of the incidents happend.

Plenty of room to use the wets.

Also in the good old days (sigh :( ) Bridgestone had 'real' wets AND Monsoon/heavy wets.

Even if those tires existed today, nobody could use them as the FIA wouldn't even start the session.

problem was the lines; you go over one, and there's no grip because they're so slick in the wet, and it's difficult to avoid them because they're everywhere. Suddenly the car just snaps out on you, and there's not much that can be done about that.

indeed as has been pointed out, they were on inters; the issue was not water volume, nor did they have issues heating the tires.

There were a whole lot of incidents around entry to turn 11. Coulthard said it may have been because a wall shields the wind until they get to the entry, and it destabilizes the vehicles; not sure how much truth there is to that.

It is said that the climate is changing, but I do not buy it that Formula 1 disproportionally hit, as qualifying sessions and races seem to be red-flagged more often than they used to be.

Blast from the (not-so-distant) past.

To be honest, I don't particularly care anymore about what they do or don't do in the event of rain. My input changes nothing, yanno?

That said, it's probably Pirelli's fault anyway. They don't make a decent dry tire, so why should their wet tires be any different?
