The consequences might be similar to if you "accidentally" spun into the wall allowing your teammate's otherwise ridiculous strategy to work? Only without the delay.

I've seen a few of your posts now and they're very bizarre, do you really believe he meant to do that on purpose? everyone makes mistakes, and no he wouldn't of come out in the lead, he maybe would of taken Vettel's position in P2.

Lack of focus? how the hell can it be a lack of focus? it's his second race at Mercedes, it will take time to settle into his new team, and both team mechanics look similar I assume while in the car.

Why would he lack focus in his first season at a new team? if anything he will be more determined than ever to prove his worth and prove to the team that it was the right decision to sign him.

What it shows is that the drivers don't think about how to do the pit stop, they just do it automatically. He drove in to the McLaren box because he wasn't thinking about the pit stop - he was probably thinking about the race situation and what needed to be done. He may also have been in conversation with the pitwall too.

Top racing drivers don't think about how to do the simple stuff like pit stops. They're too busy thinking ahead in the race. They do stuff automatically that we would struggle to do in isolation with full concentration and this episode was a demonstration of that - Hamilton's mind was busy elsewhere so he was doing the easy driving bit on autopilot. As his autopilot has spent several years driving in to the McLaren box, it's no surprise. He won't do it again.

And I think his results to date are reasonable evidence of his commitment to the team.

That's the thing isn't it; top drivers should be the ones who don't do these mistakes even when their brains are crowded out to death

To an extent you are right, he was on auto pilot and went to his old pits but there's also a Wall of Champions in Canada so its no big deal.

They are humans afterall, 2 champions have done this mistake, as spin says there´s a wall dedicated for champions and i´ve seen champions have trouble stopping in their own pit box.

Once is ok and quite funny but a second time and you should probably re-consider your job.
