Podium interview quiz

Post

Me and a few friends where having a discussion the other day after the Chinese gp about who we'd like to see doing podium interviews after the race.

I figured it'll be a nice topic to discuss here so ill throw one idea out

Murray Walker at doing the podium at the british gp. Probably get a huge pop from the fans there.
One of my friends said now that Schumacher is retired he should do the german podium interview.
Another idea was Mika hakkinen. Only if kimi won the race because it'll be hilirious :p

So what are your ideas about who could do the podium interviews.

+1 for Mr. E, including Mika asking Kimi after win: "Was it difficult?" Kimi: "No." End of interview.
I'd like some Pablo Montoya as well.

Oh God not JV. He and Irvine are the eternal ranters of F1. Doesn't help that I consider JV F1's worst WDC.

I can imagine Montoya coming to the podium area, tripping on a wire or something like that on the way and going like "Who the f**k put that f***ing wire there, what a f***ing idiot you almost broke my f***ing head!"

On the other hand, DC was very good in China - he is a good public speaker and a spontaneous guy who doesn't lose himself if things don't go as planned. Compared to Brundle for example, who asked the same questions that he asks all the time in the pitlane, grid, interviews.

DC is indeed very good. IMO a driver turned press man such as brundle or dc are probably best for the job. I'd like to see Chandhok do it. IMO he'd be good too.

I'd love Yuji Ide to do it. Not the best driver, but a fantastic interviewer. Great guy.

I agree with Bernie too. That would make it very interesting
DC is pretty good. Brundle sounds boring to me.
How about Flavio doing the interview ? I wonder how Kimi would do it if he had the chance

Having former drivers / team members / principals etc ask the questions is a great idea. They should have a short introduction clip run before the interview starts showing who the interviewer is and what they've done to promote and encourage F1 and racing in general. This gives the current audience a taste of the history of F1 - so you qualify why they're good enough to ask questions and educate the masses on the sport at the same time.

It should be a privilege that has to be earned to interview on the podium.

If you want to make post race podium interview interesting, how about the host be someone more technical like an engineer or designer? I agree Coulthard and Brundle do an adequate job, but the questions invariably are very similar from race to race. How do you feel about winning? What caused you to come in second? That was a close call in the second stint fighting so-and-so....tell us about it. The drivers usually answer to maintain good PR with sponsors in mind, except for odd colorful language

I nominate Gary Anderson.....
