McLaren MP4-28 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Its pretty much the Mercedes shape imo. If not for the new flow conditioners I'd call it almost a clone.

Quite possible, the painting process in general takes couple of hours, let's say 5 to 8, depending on what you really do, the white color may mean 3D printer.

On a related note, Mclaren used one of the curfew 'jokers' - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/107294

I had the exact same thoughts when I saw Perez' car on the track...

Some poor footage I took, but you can clearly see the shape of the sidepods.

"Hey, guys?"
"Yes?"
"I found out the issue with the car"
"Sweet!"
"You know those sidepods from a couple of years ago we said was a dead end development? Just, ermm, rummage through the bins and see if you can find them...."

The sidepod openings are massive compared to any other car on the grid. Especially the Sauber! How can these be better?

Yep, they look massive indeed. Maybe a change of internal flow demanded them. Hard to see how this could be an improvement.

You are right - my bad. But still, compared to the competition and to previous years they look huge.

Williams-like slot in the RW endplate.
