Vintage Quest: Colin Chapman 1957

Post

I'm writing a blog that goes through each and every F1 race, starting in 1957. I recently noticed that Colin Chapman was behind the design of the car (Vanwall VW 57) that eon the first F1 championship race for a British Manufacturer.

I've read the basic facts of the car, but have had trouble finding much additional information.

Any vintage experts here have any insight I might glean?

Thanks in advance.
Check out my project at http://www.gpevolved.com. I am attempting to retell the story of F1, one race at a time. Stop by for a taste of Formula 1 in the 1950s.

Hi needmoretorque,

Find it hard for you to think the history of the sport is not preserved. I think you must be reading the wrong books.
There is enough about each race in the history books. I love the history and have never struggled to find info on any driver, race or team. I feel that the history has been well preserved.

To add to your story about the Pescara Grand Prix did you know that whilst Moss pitted for a rest Jack Brabham ran out of fuel and filled up at a fuel stop along side the circuit, also to retell the story maybe you should have informed the reader why Pescara got to hold a GP in the first place.
In finishing I can grab a book from my library about anything in F1 therefore the history is out there.

Anyway if you need I would like to offer assistance in some way.

Good luck
