RIC smashed JEV in qually again yesterday, his super smooth precise style is definitely what you want in a top car IMO.

JEV's style is too raw, F1 is not GP2 or touring cars.

I agree but on the choice that RebBull want an undeclared Number 2 for Vettel. I think they should sing him as Vettel wouldn't Be out classed by Jensen.

I still think its going to Be Kimi tho hes to good to let go. Hell they could 1 year contract him and he would take it.

Kimi doesn't play 2nd to anyone so IMO that rules him out. If he joined RBR we'd be seeing Multi21 situations from both directions followed by fists flying!

It'd be entertaining as hell for us but not what RBR wants. :D

Does RBR really want only Vettel to win? No, they just want one of their drivers to win the WDC. If they have the chance to sign one of the best drivers in the field (which they most certainly do with Raikkonen), then they should take it. This idea that it would be bad to sign Raikkonen as he could beat Vettel doesn't make sense. Why should RBR care as long as it is one of their drivers winning races? That's what they should be looking for, the strongest possible driver line up. It's not Team Vettel Racing.

The philosophy of getting one top de facto number 1 and a tail gunner is only the better option when your car is the fastest in the field IMO, and even then it is debatable.

There also would not necessarily be fireworks between the two world champions at RBR either. The animosity between Webber and RBR stemmed from the fact that he wasn't shown the respect that he felt he deserved. Do you think that's going to be the case with Raikkonen?

Red Bull would be stupid not to get the strongest possible line up.

two no.1 drivers in a team...hmm...
I do remember Button and Hamilton; Button n Perez; and now Hamilton and Rosberg. Both of them are no.1s
They seem to get along fine thus far.

Alonso certainly prefer a clear no.1 and no.2. This is one of the reason I generally don't agree with pundits about Alonso being the most complete driver.

It is up to Christian Horner and Marko Hermut to decide how will the team get along. With Webber and Vettel, they have managed it quite successfully despite the volatility. I think if they can manage Webber/Vettel. They can easily manage Raikkonen/Vettel.

I still think it will be Kimi but he WON'T be a number 2 driver. HELLS no lol I love saying that seems so 90's.

Kimi will be signed because ultimately it will mean more money for RedBull. If Vettel really is the Champ he will still win. If not Kimi wins either way. RedBull wins.

So for that reason I think Kimi to RedBull. I can just FEEL IT lol.

I know the aus media is biased but we are hearing RIC is the favorite in RBR to take the seat from Webber.

Then he must not have as much power in the team as some people think he does. Otherwise, Seb would never have been told to hold station behind Mark in Malaysia.

At Red Bull only Didi Mateschitz makes such a decision and I have fundamental problems to believe that the Australian media is best placed to read the mind of an Austrian billionaire who is famous for avoiding any contact with the media.

If we have anything to go by then it is the fact that Mateschitz was always supporting equal status to both drivers and that would speak for trying to get Kimi. Didi is not a shy man. He likes to go for the best of the best and challenge the guys that work for him. He is incredibly loyal with those who meet his criteria.

He also has no second thought about any money down the drain. If it suits him he will run one or two teams irrespective of the success of the young driver scheme.

I did preface my comment with the obvious bias mention!

Anyway we do have a lot of Aussies thru the F1 paddock so it's not like there aren't any sources to talk to.

Well, Didi never goes to races the occasional Monaco race being the exception. So how would they speak to him? Riciardo is not impossible, I concede that much. Kimi could decide to stay at Lotus. IMO and in the opinion of very many professional observers Kimi holds the handle on the driver market. Only when he has made his decision all the other seats will follow. So if we are realistic it isn't even as much in Didi's hands as it is in Kimi's. Red Bull has officially confirmed that they have Kimi on the list. They will make sure to give him an offer that matches and beats Lotus' in money, freedom and competitiveness. So I cannot see Kimi not going there. He is just exploiting the situation when he is having the upper hand. The longer he waits the more they will all tell him about their 2014 plans and that would be a nice bonus.

That really depends on who is winning IMO. I think Raikkonen could probably reconcile Vettel being quicker as long as he beat him on occasion and felt like he was being given a fair shot. I don't think Vettel could reconcile with Raikkonen, or any other driver, being quicker and were that to happen then we could see some toys being thrown out of the pram. Being a 3, or probably 4, time world champion he won't be okay with playing second fiddle.

It would be fascinating though as I can see Vettel having the slight edge in qualifying, despite losing the blown diffuser, and Raikkonen coming back at him in the races. Could lead to some really interesting on track fights.

When Frank Williams was asked how he would replace Keke Rosberg, someone commented;

He can't, Keke cannot be replaced.

Everybody calls 2011 RBR super, duper car and Jenson still even beat Webber to P2 that year. So Jenson might be worth having a lot more than others.

In any case, I hope and believe it would be Kimi who will partner Vettel.
