Old school tracks are gr8, like Montreal and Canadas GP this weekend, sure it has runoff but not everywhere and its bumpy and its narrow and thats what makes it such an awesome track. Its not always fun with the tilkemonster tracks with more runoff then track.lizardfolk wrote:I'm glad some of you found it enjoying. Despite being a huge IndyCar fan I have to admit the series is far from perfect and there's a handful of drivers who sometimes dive bombs more than they pass. For me, I watch both F1 and IndyCar, I personally dont think they should be mutually exclusive as there's things I love about IndyCar that I dont see in F1 but F1's professionalism and talent level is just top of the world.
Although I do have a suggestion to those new to IndyCar and who are used to F1. When an F1 car stalls or crash the way the tracks are designed lend it to be cleaned away easily without needing a full course caution. IndyCar tracks are still very "old school". Indy's street courses are still very much "ahhh just close the roads and let them race... no need runoffs". So because of this sometimes when a car stalls it requires the track to go full course yellow.
Which... very easily leads to Lap 1 pile-ups especially on such a narrow, bumpy, and old fashioned tracks. The Detroit Belle Isle circuit is a huge far cry from Singapore or Valencia.
Yeah sometimes IndyCar can have it's... grassroots moments when everyone scrambles a little too hard. I admit F1's professionalism is tip top.scotty86 wrote:I like watching IndyCar whenever i can, but i gotta say that second race was weekend was amateurish, and far more frustrating than entertaining.
Isn't Penske the team from Pennsylvania?Sombrero wrote:What a great return race ! The Pensylvanians on Target at home 1-2-3... a little bit like 1971 Mark Donohue's home win.
Penske's shop used to be in Reading, PA. He moved his shop south to NC to consolidate his cup teams (Used to be Penske South) and open wheel/road race stuff under 1 roof.Pierce89 wrote:Isn't Penske the team from Pennsylvania?Sombrero wrote:What a great return race ! Used to love driving by his shop when I was kid and seeing the cars outside being loaded up to go racing.
Friend's mom worked there. She brought him home a rear wing off Rick Mears Indy car one time. Lucky SOB
