Translation:
Sunday's race at the Hungaroring showed that fixes Mercedes to the maintenance of the rear tires in good condition are a thing of the past. Despite the very high temperatures, Lewis Hamilton made a strategy very similar to Sebastian Vettel, what else a few weeks ago it was difficult to imagine. Especially the rear tires on the car Mercedes quickly followed overheating and refuse to obey.
German engineers undertook many activities to improve the situation. As we know, some of them were in accordance with the spirit of the competition, while others do not, what Mercedes has been punished with exclusion from participation in the testing for young drivers. All of this meant that the car, which devoured even W04 rear tires, became for them almost as mild as Red Bull structures or Lotus.
Photo submitted by a reader of the blog suggests that another element that allowed drivers to the German team on so fast getting back on top, is the new design of the rear wheels, allowing better heat dissipation with tyres.
On the inner side of the wheel rims (part of the overlap on the hub) you will notice a wide gap. The only logical explanation for its presence, is to use a double crust. The rim is somewhat empty in the Middle, which allows you to force cold air in it. Just a glance at the hub, to notice that in this place there is a slot, which is probably the cold air is delivered.
At the moment it's hard to say what the width of the RIM has a double shell. Perhaps it is only in the inner side, because that's where the tire reaches the highest temperature. Probably in the back or the bottom of the fifth (can not see the photos available) there is a hole, where the hot air leaves the gap, and is blown out.
The presence of cracks can be seen only in the rear wheels. The inner part of the front wheels has only a slight indentation where the back is open.
