Also Interlagos was much, much longer, with a large extra infield section.

EDIT:

Interlagos; http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2010/11/01/c ... gos-video/

In Montreal the start/finish line along with the pits, used to be at the exit of the hairpin (1978-87),
they made changes to the straight leading from the hairpin down to the new pit area and a corner was removed at the end of the new front straight along with reshaping the final right left before the New start/finish straight

they made a change to the hairpin, corner 5 now 5a and 5b better know as Moss Corner, that's really the only change in the track configuration Mosport's had in 50 years. Its hard to improve upon perfection

over 40 years between these video clips still looks the same

Quoted for truth.

Out of curiosity, you are referring to the change that was originally suggested by Stirling Moss, hence why the corner was named after him, correct?

Nice videos, I will also add a lap in the Porsche 956 during the 1980s for the sake of it.

I like how Bruce McLaren says he gets wheel spin up to 4th gear in the back straight. Crazy :)

Monza came close to staying the same, but they reshaped the Curva Grande as well as the first chicane. Also Ascari had higher curbs in the 70s and early 80s, so no one was riding on them the way they do now.

Even Monaco for as timeless as it is, had the chicane after the tunnel changed. Used to be a left-right flick till the slowed the cars down massively for a left-right-left.

Road America is still running it's original configuration from the 1950s which puts it in a very special group.

Yes that is right, Stirling Moss suggested that the hairpin be expanded into 2 corners, making it more of a challenge to the drivers, and it would be better viewing for the race fans. the old man was spot on
He also won the first International race held at the track, the Player's 200 in a Lotus 19

You can see the biggest change in 50 years, trees and lots of them

In terms of F1, Indianapolis is a roval rather then an oval. But it has changed, the third to last corners have been changed.
(or fourth if they consider the small bend up to the oval a corner i´m not sure)

watkins i think has stayed exactly the same throughout the years, apart from maybe run-offs, kerbs.
Looks a bit ancient there.
