It's a permanent fake smile probably used as a mask against pressure. You don't have to be much of a psychologist to see that one......

He's going to be nothing like Vettel because Vettel ultimately proved himself at Torro Rosso. Ricciardo has done nothing of the kind based on results and he's there purely because Red Bull are desperate to justify their much vaunted driver programme. The team will pay for it in results.

Nice lad.

Very fast, but doesn't have the race craft and I don't think he is going to get it any time soon.

Hopefully he proves me wrong.

It's going to be weird to see two Red Bull's launch off the line and not see one of them go backwards. It would be interesting to estimate how many points Red Bull have lost because of Webber's consistently terrible starts. From an Australian POV, having a young, fairly quick Aussie in a top team is going to keep a lot of interest in F1 in Australia, which hopefully means we'll keep the GP beyond 2015.

Well, I think everyone is gonna stay put then. Raikkonen to McLaren? I dunno, based on this season I'd say probably not, but who knows what the Honda engine could bring...

Kind of surprising that it came now. It must mean that Kimi has taken a decision not to go to Red Bull and Alonso has decided to stay at Ferrari at least next year.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

Who's going in the toro roso seat?
Well it's no suprise they picked daniel. It's perfectly alligned with their interests and mission.
Kimi doesn't have any shine anymore, he's old news.

Redbull is for Redbull drivers, i don't expect any outsiders to get the chance to sit in a Newey car from now.
The cars are to special. lol
Why guarantee success for an outsider, when you can guarantee it for a redbull program driver?
For Sure!!

Dan R to RBR
Nando to Maclaren
Massa to the Bin
Button to Ferrari
Kimi to Ferrari
JEV to lotus
2x N00bs to Torro Rosso
Gro to stay at lotus
Now that's a shake up!

I feel button rather be the one eye king in the land of the blind; he's not leaving mclaren. Ferrari is too alien to him and he can't throw his weight around there.
Kimi is old news for them. Ferrari has to much pride to hire him again. They dont want it to look like they made a mistake getting rid of him in 2010.

I agree Massa is going to the scrap heap.
Alonso is like Button, he's going to stick with the devil he knows.
The other changes, i can't really predict.
For Sure!!

Yeah I'm not really convinced by my prognostications either, their main purpose was to provoke discussion of unusual possibilities. :)

Because when you guarantee success for that outsider - he becomes an insider.

That's some serious Ricciardo hatred you've got going there mate !
Have you seen anything of Daniel before his F1 career ?
The bloke is just so happy to be involved in motor sport that he smiles a lot, always has, always will.
He's been that way since karting, and you've contradicted yourself by saying he's only steppped up once the RBR seat became available.
He was smiling long before that so I wonder what unknown pressure he was under that made him so happy ?

I for one am not sure what will bring me more pleasure ?

Daniel maturing into a WDC, or revisiting the haters when he does.

So the only real question now from the big teams is who gets the 2nd Ferrari seat...my gut says that Massa will get given (yet) another chance, but I would prefer to see someone else get the seat as I really feel that if Massa was going to regain his 2007/2008 form then he would have by now.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Well, congratulations for RIC, my hunch, shared privately with some of the forum members, turned out correct.
The more I'm looking into the situation, the more likely it seems that both Kimi and Massa will retain their current positions.

Yep, to be honest if you have any brains you can see that Daniel's smiling is genuine and not faked. He just beams from ear to ear because he's so happy to be in F1... I'd be exactly the same!

If it was fake you'd see the signs ...

Is this discussion real? Why would it be fake and why would Ricciardo's smile be under scrutiny suddenly? Is he "the enemy" that took the seat from someone's favourite driver? Predictably length of contract and scope for improvement, meaning age was stressed by RB. Apart from obvious reasons.

Red Bull's junior team is simply not flexible enough. They won't let you leave (Buemi, Alguesuari) and they won't give anyone from outside Toro Rosso seat. Why not get someone out of contract, like Hulkenberg was, test him, put him against their best young for 2 seasons and give the better one RB if he's good enough or let them leave if someone else is interested. They should think again why young talents don't want to have anything to do with them like Frijns. ["I know they play games. You cannot decide for yourself and if you do not do everything they want, you’re out. They treat you like a dog"] For approach alone I'd like to see him in F1. When you think about it it's not that different to many other F1 teams.

I think his smile is genuine! Still I don't think that he is the right man for this Red Bull seat.
