Mercedes AMG F1 W04

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Please keep this thread about the car's properties and developments only. Results and this related to a specific race are more appropriately discussed in the race threads.
Why are we supposed to ask everything that is (even slightly) related with the race in the race thread? Luckily, the most active users write in a lot of threads; but if i want to share some doubts regarding why the W04 was so slow at eau rouge, 'forcing' (ok, MERC did the set-up) both drivers to downshift in 6th gear and see a red bull (which Rosberg was chasing at the exit of turn 1) leaving Rosberg behind some meters and at the same time attacking Hamilton, i think the W04 thread is the most accurate place to post it; not to mention it's the main thread in which someone can answer me because we spent last 3-4 days discussing the car, strenghts and weaknesses depending on track layout etc etc

Seconded, sometimes these post moves are a little silly, but it can be difficult with some posts obviously, so my thanks to the moderators still for putting in the good work to keep the place on topic :)

I wonder if they are going to have a Monza front and rear wings.

Yes, they most likely will. Like the other 10 teams on the grid.

Perhaps this is better on the team thread – mods, this would be my most requested feature – the ability to make a quote referencing another thread in a way that tells people where it comes from.

Anyway... this worries me, it suggests to me that Merc are still concentrating on the 2013 car, thinking they have a chance of winning. I dearly hope they haven't lost sight of the "2014 is the year" philosophy.

I though they have already moved almost their entire work force to the 2014 project? I know they were 50% moved a few months ago.

As for the car I'm assuming the front wing will be changed, and probably less AoA on the rear?

I thought the end of the exhaust has to point, I don't exactly know...5 degrees, upwards?
But maybe it isn't fully assembled yet.
