Like everyone else I simply assumed that it would be Massa going and maybe they would replace him with Raikkonen, but something I read in Autosport where a rival team boss said that Raikkonen was really being lined up as a replacement for Alonso in case he moved to Red Bull opened my eyes a bit.

I just found his podium actions really curious. Surely he's got more Monzas as a Ferrari driver in the years to come? :o

I felt the same too. Perhaps Vettel just reminded him about the precious moment he had when he won in a STR.
But I thought he did say that he hope to be able to return in 2014 and stand on the top step of the podium.

The thing about Alonso taking over the cycling team does give me the impression that he is looking for something to keep him busy during his sabbatical.

I've seen him do that before, so I wouldn't read too much into it

Noobs saying that Alonso is taking pictures because he's leaving? He clearly posts everything on twitter and does this very often and not just Monza.

And I sincerely hope that Massa is given a good bye, it's more than necessary to have a stronger driver with a breath of fresh air in the team. I like Hulkenberg for the task if Raikkonen doesn't come back. And if Raikkonen comes back my avatar will make sense again haha.

He posted the pictures on Facebook (haven't checked his Twitter account).
By the way, I wouldn't mind seeing your avatar making sense once again

Certain events taken together have a nasty habit of lining up where business is done behind the back of a hand and on a nod and a wink....... It's pretty funny to watch people who supposedly watch Formula 1 who continually don't get that.

EDIT: Driver announcements are also traditionally done at Monza. Why wait when it's pretty obvious a decision has already been made?

Kimi to Ferrari will be huge for f1 fans and bad news for Alonso?

This would be great news for Alonso. Two top drivers hungry to win will push the team like it hasn't been done in years. Massa has not been "real" since 2008. Although I don't know how Raikkonen will cope with the attention that Alonso recieves from the team and fans. He doesn't speak Italian yet iirc.

Even I have the same questions in my mind. How would Raikkonen cope with the fact that the whole Ferrari team revolves around Alonso now? What if he doesn't get the same attention and treatment? What if the car is designed to suit Alonso more than Kimi and he finds it extremely difficult to drive? Another mediocre performance at Ferrari (in 08-09 for whatever reason) may damage his career permanently.

On the other hand, I was seriously thinking about Hulk in the Ferrari. A talented young gun in the Ferrari would also make a logical choice and he has proven himself already.

Raikkonen and Alonso for Ferrari would be my dream team. But I find it hard to believe given the history between LdM and KR.

I don't think it would be impossible from a team perspective, though. Even if it revolves around Alonso right now, I think Raikkonen's return would be welcomed by all, including Alonso himself.

Yes I too think that Hulkenberg would make more sense. Unfortunately Ferrari do not have the habit of employing younger drivers, but hopefully this can be the exception. He seems like a very well rounded young man with great skills on track, so I definitely approve.

Massa too was quite young when he started at Ferrari in 06. So it shouldn't be a big problem IMO. He is 26 I guess??
