There's going to need to be some serious backing for that such as getting BMW back in the sport or something. It doesn't look likely.

Wow, Alonso really doesn't want to be shown up, does he!

Hulkenberg does make more sense....until you think about Raikkonen as a replacement for Alonso.

Well, it's a massive slap in the face to Alonso if this gets announced. No doubt about it. If Ferrari still believe in Alonso and are happy with him Hulkenberg is by far the more logical choice.

Apparently Raikkonen will make a decision within the next 48 hours which will coincide with Ferrari's announcement.

What a coincidence!

So if he leaves Lotus for Ferrari, then there are two top drivers there unless Alonso leaves the team. This is getting very complicated with all the rumors going on. Where will Hulkenberg end up is also tied Kimi's fate?

Lotus would be a good option if Kimi leaves.

Yup! In Nico they will have a pretty good and solid driver. He can fill Kimi's shoes nicely, I say.

I think there's one permutation that not been mentioned - Alsonso & Hulkenberg at Lotus with Santander sponsorship and poaching Newey.

Now I'm being a very silly man....

A few weeks ago I was up for a bit of speculation and found the constant rumors entertaining. Now, I am to the point of "just get on with it" and "lets wait and see"

Kimi and Alonso must be breaking some type of record for amount of teams linked to, the latter of which I find it hard to believe will be going anyway.

I think is all about egos, with Kimi, Montezemolo wins, with other driver, Alonso wins. The funny thing is that no matter what, Montezemolo will look like a clown, you fired Kimi to rehire him some years after? .

They should be more worried about making a good car and having the tools to do it than this power struggle.

Will be fun to watch Massa if they announce his out so "early" on the season.

Massa is faster than Alonso, or at least he's shown himself to be at times. Maybe he'll win a race if they let him actually race.

Being faster isn't necessarily important, since he never has the upper hand where it counts, nor could rally the team behind him in the same way.

If he could have only begun the seasons on the right foot and ahead of Alonso points-wise they would let him race but it is never the case.

And I think that at this point Alonso has the self confidence to accept someone like Raikkonen in the team. At his level I would love nothing more than to have another top racer (#2 or 3 after Alonso and Hamilton) as my teammate.

Btw, there are some excellent pics of the Spaniard and Finn here: http://blog.axisofoversteer.com/2013/09 ... -deal.html

Good for F1 yes, although id still rather of seen him at Red Bull. Alonso likes to be top dog and thats not going to happen here.

Also anyone think that this will be humble pie for Ferrari?

Is there a possibility that they will announce Raikkonen and Massa.
Ferrari aren't happy with Alonso after his public criticism of the team and he was talking with Red Bull about next year so is t possible that he will be gone.
