And you'd think that Kimi would rather follow beer... :D

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

So Massa made several remarks concerning the 2014 ferrari duo. He believes alonso and kimi will collide. The remark seems a bit personal to me.

But more importantly, massa explicitly said he will NOT back up Alonso for the rest of the season. He'll be driving solely for his own. Perfectly justifiable, but I do wonder what Ferrari will do with that when Massa puts Alonso in the disadvantage during a race or qualifying. Without Massa listening they either do nothing, or have to resort to rather obvious means to "delay" Massa, like longer then ussual pitstops, breaking the gearbox seal, giving inferior material etc. I deeply hope it is the former: doing nothing about it.

It's perfectly normal for Massa to drive in order to prove himself that he is there at the top and show other teams what he can do. Helping Fernando and caring about your teammate's race takes its toll.
And let's be honest, if something doesn't happen to Vettel - as in a serie of DNFs, I'm afraid that Alonso has 0 chances at the title.

Montezemolo has told Massa he will have to behave as usual. He also said a change of scenery will be good for him. Very patronizing and a clear warning that he will crush Massa if he does not play the Ferrari ball game. It will be interesting to see what will happen there. I agree that Alonso's small chances of winning the title this year have further shrunk.

What leverage do Ferrari have over Massa to be able to "crush" him, WB?
If Massa chooses not to play, Ferrari will sit tight and watch until next year. That is all they can do, save sacking a driver in season.
And this will not happen given Massa's service to the team.

Ferrari have no problem sacking a driver who opens their mouth too much, no matter who they are. Alain Prost was a 3 time world champion when Ferrari showed him the door for bad mouthing the car...

I agree back then it would not have been a problem. But what is Massa saying that is derogatory to Ferrari? He want's to race no strings attached up to the end of the season.
The WDC is beyond Alonso, unless there is a miraculous turn of events. Therefore, a strong and competitive Massa who wants to bow out on a high is far more valuable to the team(and WCC) than a guy who plays second fiddle.

By sacking Massa, how will they go about handling Raikkonen? Just sends out the wrong message to sponsors, prospective drivers and their fans.

Kimi will not bow for Ferrari. There is very little they can do to pressure him into a support role. Massa his character is alot more vulnerable in that aspect, being too much the good guy unfortunaly. But Kimi doesn't care for that.

let´s hope felipe can show a bit of grit in the coming races and bow out on a high .I think Ferraris attitude of rendering him second fiddle quite from the first day s of alonso in the team was very bad for Felipes psyche.
He worked so hard to come back and when he was in a position to win he was told to move aside and let the other guy win -effectively for nothing ..as alonso did not win the title anyways.
