Quote from Button
"I'm sure when Kimi walks in that door, Fernando will start talking Italian to all the team personnel. That's exactly what I would do," he said at an ExxonMobil promotional event.

"It's going to be an interesting atmosphere and relationship between those two, especially if Kimi is as quick as Fernando. If Kimi starts out-qualifying Fernando, that will be a big one.

The trouble is he is already speaking Italian....and they've chosen to go in another direction. James Allison certainly doesn't speak it.

I have read somehwere that Allison does speak Italian, having learned it in his previous ferrari stint - but imagree with you on the general sense of what hiring Allison + Raikkonen (+De Beer + maybe Murphy) means

of course. they'll go after alonso in 2015
I think Button might be going the same route as Webber did the last few years, a string of one year deals. How long that string is will probably depend on his performance - if he comes second in the WDC again next year then I can't see McLaren dropping him for 2015...then again, I'm not sure I see him coming 2nd in the WDC again...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Mclaren have reportedly approached Alonso.... I can't believe this

Should he go to Mclaren, and should he manage to win the title, I think it would be one of the greatest stories in F1 history!

Though I thought both Jenson and Perez already had deals.

Alonso, McLaren and Honda. That sounds good.

It does... too good to be true almost. Senna was in a Mclaren Honda, that will surely play in Alonsos mind.

If Alonso does go to McLaren, who will be his team mate? I can't see him or Button being happy with Button being there. Alonso is going to want a confirmed number 2 who has been shown not to be quick enough to beat him. He won't want a repeat of his experience there last time when a rookie out performed him on many occasions.

I could see McLaren keeping Perez and dropping Button for Alonso.

Perhaps Button and Alonso will swap teams. Button at Ferrari to end his career? He might be up for that.

According to two articles I have read, it will be Sergio who will get the boot.

The bbc article is posted above.

I get the impression that Button is wanting more money than McLaren are prepared to pay and this Alonso talk from MW is just them flexing a bit of muscle to bring Button back into line.

What thing not yet considered, if Alonso does move, it will surely set off another rounds of frantic moves. I could see Hulkenburg filling Alonsos seat, and DiResta to Lotus... maybe even Perez to Lotus because he comes with a big backing.

I haven't got that impression in any article I have read. I think this is a legitimate attempt.

Still not 'official-offical', but I think it's safe to say his drive is secured?

It's funny how everyone's moving Alonso as if anyone who offers a contract could immediately hire him, first RB now McLaren. Is "evil" Alonso still selling among F1's journo/audience mob? It would be funny to see Ferrari left with the other "top driver" and some nr 2 in 2015, if that's the reason speculations like that sell.

Why would he even be worried about McLaren 2015 now, before biggest change in history of F1 with unknown consequences? So the assumption is that McLaren-Honda will be the car to have in 2015, based on what? I see three problems: McLaren, Honda and McLaren+Honda - season behind the competition. Even if they are great in 2014 it would be no guarantee for 2015.

OK, for 2015 - Alonso to McLaren, "disgruntled" Hamilton to Ferrari after losing a chance for 2014 championship through reliability and Mercedes refusing to treat him as clear nr 1. Eddie Jordan from the future told me that :o .

The talk is of Alonso being there in 2014, with a Mercedes engine, not just 2015.

Haha, no chance. McLaren would never accept Alonso back after he threw his toys out the pram. Alonso also wouldn't go back there now that he knows for sure that McLaren will not treat him as clear number 1.
