McLaren MP4-28 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Same spec as Hungary? I can't see any obvious differences from the above photographs and no updates have been mentioned by the team. Button said on Sky TV that he was keen to see how the high downforce package would do around Singapore, but didn't allude to having brought anything new to the package.

Different radius under the monkey seat perhaps? Could just be perspective.

Mc always use a smaller vent. This is the biggest that they have used.
So, there is new beam wing and new flap on side pods. Isn't "really" updates?

Thought McLaren stopped development of the MP4-28 earlier on in the season?

Well the hole is just cooling, and the beatmwing i just thought of as different since they wouldnt have used a high df one at monza and i thought the other pic was monza or spa but maybe its not.

These updates may well have been in the pipeline already - ie they had already been designed and just needed to be manufactured.

Other than that they will still be bringing updates, but only when they feel that running them will be of benefit for next year's car.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

They are more of a race track specific optimization package than true updates that can be used at most race tracks.

Different rear wing end plates. Seems like they want to test a region of wing angles
