So what if they pay your salary? It is only the driver that puts his life on the line, How much salary is your life worth? I have no doubt in my mind that Massa will be tormented(just as Rubens is) for the rest of his life for allowing Alonso/Ferrari to roll over him. Can you imagine what his grand children will think of him, putting his life on the line, nearly getting killed for what? A salary and to roll over when commanded. Moving over in the last couple of races and for grid positions or points is one thing but for a Win(2010 German GP) in the middle of the season is downright deplorable.

Button is way overpaid, Alonso brings in boatloads of money, Perez brings in cash as well, Unless Honda stipulates that it must have Button, as McLaren Team Boss I know which two I would choose.

Yeah he also said he didnt try to get a Red Bull seat, so I wouldn't believe too much of what he says

Alonso brushes aside mclaren rumours:

I understand why the media will try and make a big story out of anything, I just can't understand why so many people take such bull seriously..

See above - because "evil" Alonso is not to be trusted, he wanted to go to RB but said he didn't. He also wants to be nr 1 and wants team orders, so if doesn't get them he will leave Ferrari (or won't leave if he gets them, I guess?). Unlike all the other drivers including "pure racer" team orders world record holder Raikkonen and "negative Nico" "Heikki Lewis is faster than you" Hamilton (add the whole 2007-2009 as special treatment example). He also sucks at qualifying although how can this be the case when some people recently were praising Singapore 2010 as a classic, only because he nailed qualy and was in front of Vettel first time he got the chance, Ferrari wasn't faster. Some anomaly and luck probably, same as Silverstone or Germany 2012 and many, many other races in previous seasons.

It's like reality means nothing here, anything Alonso related goes. You don't trust Alonso? Fine, trust reality and make a case for him leaving Ferrari in 2015 based on some hard data you have now. Anything can happen in F1 but why is the question.

Anyone with half a brain cell and has watched the politics behind driver moves play out in Formula 1 can clearly see that Alonso will not be getting anywhere near to the end of his Ferrari contract.

Ferrari's press releases on Raikkonen's arrival are as much a crystal clear message to Alonso as they are to anyone else. Commercial considerations probably dictate that Alonso might have to spend another year at Ferrari, but he is not going to spend a year in a team with a competitive driver where he has fallen out of favour and where he feels 'unloved'. I'd be very surprised if Alonso's departure is not brought forward and hammered together as it was at the end of 2007.

That's why Jenson Button and Perez remain unsigned, even thought it's apparently all a 'formality' and Hulkenberg hasn't signed for Lotus when he could hang around for a Ferrari seat.

Its amazing how much History repeats itself, Alonso has always reminded me of Prost and his poli-tricks, all that needs to happen now is for Alonso to call the Ferrari a "truck"

Who could blame Alonso if he were to move to Red Bull or McLaren? He is a top quality driver and, like all drivers, wants to win. His chances of winning in a Ferrari are simply not very good. There is no reason to simply assume that Ferrari will build a better car than Newey and his Red Bull tech team. As for McLaren, it IS reasonable to assume that Honda will come up with an excellent engine. Much as I love Ferrari, I would not be surprised to see him go sooner rather than later.

one more reason to hire Raikkonen and to keep Alonso honest methinks ...
As much as i like his driving I just cannot stand his constant itching and being a bit too much on the complaining side in public....he does try to redress this perception but still comes across as the one saying look i´m the best and you fail to deliver the goods that do justice to my talent and possibly also the effort i´m putting into this.....Not nice.

Alonso was the guy who ended the Schumacher-era, inarguably the most boring time in F1 ever. Every racing fan should thank him for that, unless you're a Schu fan, of course.

And he is the only one who can take the fight to Vettel in the Vettel/RBR-era, another boring time in F1. Without him it wouldn't even be worth watching.

F1 is entertainment, and all the lead characters are portrayed in such a way as to become larger-than-life charicatures of themselves. So Alonso's 2007 misconduct has forever stigmatised him as the swarthy villain.

I assume none of the pundits here have ever met him, and I do not understand how you can have such strong opinions about someone based solely on how he is being portrayed in the media.

He's no saint, but saints would not last a day in the F1 snakepit.

You think his chances are going to be any better with McLaren? They are a country mile away and they canned a car last year that they managed to get winning races for a pull-rod monstrosity that doesn't work. There is something rotten in that team that means they will never win championships again until they sort themselves out.

Even if he wants to leave the team, he will still say he is committed.
