Only if they need the money it makes any sort of sense. Even that, I would hesitate to even touch Maldonado as there's little upside to him outside of the PDVSA money he brings.Donuts wrote:Pastor Maldonado to Lotus GP next year, deal is allready done according to my source. They need the money to go up against the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull. Pastor Maldonado had his moments when Williams was competitive. The deal is done for all I know.GitanesBlondes wrote:Only if they need the money it makes any sort of sense. On the other side of things, I wonder what this means for Williams F1. Those Venezuelan paychecks were quite handy to have, even though they have shown little signs of life for the 3 years they had with Maldonado outside of 2012. Perhaps Massa will wind up there?
Sure .ChrisF1 wrote: Simple. The change in construction of tyres from 2013 to 2012 spec. Since that happened there has been a massive contrast in fortunes.
As posted, Hulk is doing everything right this season. He seems to be a very good man with the media, you never hear quotes that show him in a negative light so either he is very media-smart or the journalists genuinely like him and don't want to report the negatives.
That penalty he got in Singapore would have led to a major media outburst from a more openly emotional person, Lewis for instance, but I didn't hear anything of Hulk moaning afterwards.
I think you're joking, but I actually kinda hope it's true!Donuts wrote:Pastor Maldonado to Lotus GP next year, deal is allready done according to my source. Makes a lot of sense(?).
apologies...my post was aimed at others trying to lessen hulks performance ...sorry for hitting in your direction.I was possibly seeing a bit too much of the red mist over all these comments when especially force india drivers this year have rarely managed to stay out of trouble or deliver a flawless race .....ChrisF1 wrote:Marcush, I really don't get your post. I think you're actually saying the exact same things I'm saying, but wording them as if I don't like Hulkenburg and think he is lucky and has got some hidden power over the media to say nice things.
Quote: "As posted, Hulk is doing all the right things this season" - that is reference to his race craft and the character he presents to the world.
I was saying either he's genuinely an honest or humble man with regards to the way he responds to his racing, or he's just such a nice guy off track that the media love him and will back him because he's so awesome?
Well the fact he keeps showing up at the front as well is just enough to think that there is loads of potential present in him. Fair enough the media does talk him up especially when you've got a guy like Brundle showing obvious and constant support and marketing of him for a while too now but that just portrays him as a driver who's got the backing of a guy with loads of authority in Formula One.SectorOne wrote:There´s not many drivers who have pretty much whooped the categories prior to F1.iotar__ wrote:One of the best, based on what? Hulkenberg is one of them. Among names like Vettel, Hamilton etc.
Then you have his pole in 09. His near win in Brazil 2012. His calm demeanor in how he go about his business with pressure from two world champions behind him. He never crashed in Brazil from what i remember, that was di Resta.
Sure it was unfortunate that he took out Hamilton but he was there fighting for the win in the Force India.
Very impressive.
The guy is solid. Rosberg level driver in my opinion. Both given the car will be world champions no doubt about that.
I think you are right, we'd frequently hear of Vettel using Webber's setups even as recent as 2011.zeph wrote:I have the feeling that Webber's absence will hit RBR harder than may be apparent. It probably won't be like Hamilton leaving McLaren, but Webber has been with the team since day one and it is hard to gauge just how important he was to the team.
Then again, maybe RBR held on to him until they were confident Vettel can do it all.
I wouldn't say 'frequently' - more like very occasionally.djos wrote:we'd frequently hear of Vettel using Webber's setups even as recent as 2011.
