Still writing this drivel I see? Kubica wasn't entirely convincing against Nick Heidfeld a lot of the time but it was pretty obvious who was heading where for those who knew what to look for. Ditto Hulkenberg.

Oh and I'm sorry, but not only is Alonso McLaren bound in 2015 they will also be spending some time right now trying to bring that forward.
The only thing Mclaren is spending right now is money. They must have got a hot injection of it from somewhere...

let´s hope Robert will regain physical fitness allowing him to come back and drive a formula 1 car ,but I fail to see him as the the next Senna ,Schumacher or Clark. He might have had it ,but the accident robbed him of precious years .

Compare Hulk to Kubica ....no that is not fair -Kubica came into Formula 1 as a BMW worksdriver and he should be compared to Vettel who joined as BMW works driver as well (replacing an injured Kubica for one race) or Hamilton who also debuted in a "works"car.

Hulk started as a Williams driver in times when WGP was heavily relying on Barrichellos expertise to move back to the front
and if I´m not mistaken he was axed after scoring 22 points in his debut season ....compare to any of recent Rookees first year scores .....Not sure but Hamilton was better and who else? kubica scored 1,9points average/race in his first two seasons in a works outfit for BMW .Hulk did a measley 2,17 per race in a Williams cosworth and after a one year sabbatical a Force India ......ok it was a few more points due to score system but it does not look like Hulk is NOT a hot ticket.

Now this is interesting, and something i truly did not expect from Red Bull.
Apparently, according to Vandoorne himself he turned down a seat at Toro Rosso because it was a one year deal.

That´s all great and that but it does says something about RBR´s view on Da Costa not being the nr1, given choice.

If Stoffel V D really turned down the TR seat offer, he is a nut, crazy in the coconut. even if the contract was only for one year.
bad advisors.

Given the fact he's in the Mclaren Young Driver program, and since 2013 in Jenson Button's management, I'd say it's not that crazy at all. Mclaren are putting a lot of effort into Magnussen and Vandoorne, so I'm pretty sure he's been given certain promises for the future.

Then again, still a big gamble. But if STR shows interest in Vandoorne, it means not only Mclaren knows that he's got talent!

IMO it doesn't make any sense what so ever for RedBull to offer a McLaren young driver a seat only for 1 year. So RedBull would give a competitors young driver a whole year to adjust to F1 just to send him back to McLaren afterwards??

That's exactly what Force India is refusing to do with Magnussen.

Force India will do as is fit for them.
They will blood a youngster if it means better contractual positioning. Di Resta is proof of that.
Merc engines with a merc protege from DTM. Hasn't gone peachy but that's what these things are for.
Red Bull will blood a protege, but it needs to fit their criterion...and it will involve Torro Rosso.

Da Silva still has a je ne sais quoi. Van doorne too has a certain something.
The bottom half teams are spoilt for choice next year, but....all depends on dollars and back room dealings.

Not overly surprising to hear rumours that Da Costa is far from a shoe-in at TR. You are only ever as good as your last race in the RB young driver programme and Sainz Jr has come in at Zeta Corse and been out shining him in a team of questionable stature. It's been a RB tactic in the past to chuck another young driver in alongside in WsR to add some pressure (Vergne alongside Ricciardo in 2010, Alguersuari alongside Hartley in 2009).

James Allen rumoured a few weeks back that Kvyat was RBs chosen one but clearly he won't be rushed as he's winning GP3 and doing some F3 races. Wouldn't be surprised to see Kvyat in GP2 next year as GP3 champion, Sainz in WSR and Da Costa seat filling at STR.

I wonder if the reason for van Doorne putting down the STR offer was that it was something INSIDE the contract - ie he wasn't really turning down the drive, it was turning down something within the contract that he couldn't live with (perhaps it gave Red Bull exclusive contract rights to him and enrolled him in their YDP?)
