You don't put drivers in Formula 1 to 'take a punt' on. It's a farce, and what's more, it's turning into a dangerous farce.
Well, Red Bull took a punt on Vettel and it didn't work out too bad, did it?
You mean after some races with BMW and 2 years at Toro Rosso including one win?
A bit different then grabbing a guy straight from GP3 into a completely new formula of F1.

As Pablo from Autosport says on Twitter - it's definitely a silly season when drivers get linked to teams when they start following them on Twitter :)

Judging from Massa's public Twitter history, he has done that quite a while ago, which means, well, nothing. He has, however, followed Scarbs a long time ago, which is surely a good move :)

Red Bull sent all their propaganda forces to defend Kvyat signing. http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/3021 ... al-talent/ Even Berger is a fan, but then again he says Vettel is the best F1 driver so that shows how his eye-sight and brain work. Not too early (he is responsible for feeder series)? No, every Red Bull agenda is great when you know where your loyalties lie.

If you need a proof what their words are worth - notice how they act as if Da Costa doesn't even exist. Is he worse than Kvyat, did he forget how to drive after last season, what does Berger think about him? We don't know because it's a marketing approach, let's focus on positives (talent) not controversy (too early, Da Costa). It's their team and Kvyat may be a great talent, at least he's better than Sainz, but pretending there's no controversy about it is silly.

Who paid for his drive at BMW or his 18 months at Toro Rosso?

When Vettel drove for BMW he had F3 and half a dozen WsR races experience. Same as Alguersuari, and now Kvyat.

I think gilgen meant took a punt putting Vettel in STR, not putting Vettel in RBR

RBR i presume, although i think the BMW drive was a collaboration since he ran in the BMW Formula.

not the same as Vettel no, Kvyat has not driven in a feeder series, and he was not the first pick as we know by Vandoorne turning down the seat.

2 Russians casually walks into F1 at the same year the first GP is. This is a Russian push by sponsors, nothing more, nothing less.
That's fine in of itself but lets not make it something its not.

I see, well i think at that time it would not have mattered much.
Near identical cars and two relatively new teams so you might as well keep the experience in Red Bull.
And he's technically in Red Bull anyways since both teams are owned by them.

Still not sure about Massa, but Hulk is allegedly back on the market:
https://twitter.com/MBrundleF1/status/3 ... 0046486528 UPDATE: Massa confirms talks with Williams - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/110829

More updates: Massa is now following both Red Bull and Lotus on Twitter. Oh, wait ... :wtf:

Agreed. What would a long time F1 driver & team boss know about F1

That means Hulk to Lotus, but Lotus can't pay their bills therefore he's back on the market. Massa is following the other two teams to try to throw us off of his Williams deal.

Quite right. Note that I did not say RBR! It is Red Bull who are putting Kvyat in the STR .

Anything else to add except one-liner and cackling? Team boss of Toro Rosso on Red Bull's payroll you forgot to add. Don't you think it's a bit weird that FIA official Berger has a lot to say about Kvyat and nothing about driver weight affecting teams' choices for 2014 or hiring pay drivers?

Marko speaks about Da Costa/Kvyat http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... 75130.html
Kvyat can handle pressure and Da Costa can't. Where, in GP3? How about WsbR? It's not the same. By that logic I can handle pressure better because I haven't driven there at all. What about Vergne? They're keeping him for third(!) season in F1 and he proved time a time again he can't handle pressure at all (not to mention Vettel), especially in qualifying. Brilliant logic. Then it's about upward (DK) and flat (FdC) curve of development. Again GP3 vs WsbR, again Vergne or even Ricciardo as examples.
