Will someone please explain the subtlety in the rules, that allows a driver to leave the racing surface with all four tires multiple times a lap despite a FIA proclamation that such infractions will not be tolerated.

While I enjoy hard racing and understand that, on occasion, every driver is bound to overcook it and go wide. However, in the 2013 GP of India, Vettel drove fully in the paint multiple times a lap, every lap. Laps 10, 12, 13, 15 he went wide at several corners. Later in the race when there was an investigation between the altercation between Hulkenberg and Botas, the commentator David Hobbs drew attention to the behavior in reference to yet another driver, Massa I believe.

What a stupid thing to do, and everybody called it.

Yet when he was in a perfect place to let him pass, he drove him off the track.
Thank you...

Allan Permane agrees BTW

"It was a little disappointing, to be honest. He knew his tyres were finished and there was no need to have a battle," the team's Trackside Operations Director Alan Permane

it is in the rules to keep tv happy, delaying things screws with their planning. So they might not have had many other options and I am sure RB is happy to pay in exchange for the extra attention

at least the FIA showed some common sense and let it slide that he didn't park the car in parc ferme and he didn't get weighted right after the race, they could easily have disqualified him

I really feel bad for Webber, lets see what happens to Ricciardo' car in 2014.

I have the Feeling that very much depends on driving style.

Funny as all the conspiracies on here are, I tend to believe it i has something to do with how the Drivers treat their cars in Detail and how exactly they spend their Sunday afternoon.
Adrian Newey is known for designing everything on the edge.
Driving a lot in dirty air and fighting with other Drivers for position vs. driving in free air and not being forced into overly aggressive maneuvers might exactly make the difference between winning and retiring in such a car.

Mark Webber being harder on his tyres might be a small indication he is harder on his Equipment in general.

Everyone deserves a second chance, I have to say Romain has turned his attitude / driving style around since the birth of his first child. Out of everyone in the field he is a very devoted and loving family man and he deserves some good results.

At first I was disappointed as Kimi left for Ferrari, but now I`m pretty happy for him.
Lotus showed their true nature when they found out about Kimi`s future plans.I bet he doesnt ever care about the next 3 races.Lets hope he gives his best for `14.
Grosjean is a great driver, but can he really beat Kimi in 3 concecutive races!? :)

I asked myself the same questions during the race. I saw Seb off the track sometimes 3 or more times PER LAP! Yet not a peep from the stewards. :wtf: I don't begrude Vettel his win and title, but the officiating in F1 has become a complete and utter joke.

So does Kimi, no need to write him off.

Or simply follow the Laguna Seca principle, rumble strips with extremely rough concrete followed by sand / gravel:

I have never written him off :) but I agree, its a horrible tip in the balance towards Gro since Raikkonens decision to join Ferrari but at the end of the day Raikkonen made the right choice "A mans gotta eat no?".

My opinion was purely directed at comparing Grosjean in 2013 to him during 2012 and how he has improved since last season :)
