Red Bull RB9 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I was a little hasty in my comment. If my supposition is correct, then a broken stay will increase friction at higher speeds, and possibly lead to plank wear issues, but the splitter plate will still support the front axle, I think.

Were RBs still running different wings during fp2? Webber seemed faster in S2, while seb was faster in S3.

Nice optical illusion, the whole floor looks bent.

Not a good comparison as they are all at different sections of track.

Vettel definitely had hot both front rims over all the lap as opposed to Alonso and Hamilton.

I'm pretty much sure that it was glowing like that for the whole lap for Vettel. Some sort of tyre warming trick is going on there..

Heat sink on rims makes sense being Pirelli have brought the most conservative choices possible. COTA track surface improved immensely from last year where the asphalt barely cured before race weekend. Soft and medium would've brought a 2-3 stop race but hindsight is 20-20

Is there a possibility red bull have "qualifying rims" and then go traditional style rim after first stop?

Funny how people try to draw 1:1 conclusions from differently adjusted heat cameras.
