I still think it looks most like a mid-80s March indycar. If it's an 84C it's an early Adrian Newey design and based on the earlier Marches which were copies of the Williams FW07. Some F1 pedigree then even if not an actual F1 car.

It looks to have been a bit neglected too. Especially if the seller doesn't know or is lying about what it really is then I'd steer clear!

There has been a bit of discussion in the last few years about how well carbon fibre chassis will hold up after 20 years of use. The problem mainly lies in that nobody knows and that it is harder to inspect the chassis for cracks and signs of wear for example if the internal honeycomb had broken down, you simply wouldn't be able to tell.

You're totally true, I'm not going to get carried away with this car. I first want to know everything about it even though it's cheap. I was also thinking about the carbon fibres maximum life. As far as I know it mainly has to do with stress and it doesn't seem this car has seen a lot of stress for a long time

sh^rkbo0ts, I don't think its the indycar, look closely at pic 2 and you'll see the fuel cap is right at the back, but on the suspected F1 machine its less than 40cm behind the rollbar, which is also slightly thiner than the first pic.

I don't know what sort of car pic 2 is so I so I don't know why I posted it, lol.

I can't see how a non flat-bottomed F1 car with a turbo engine could be anything but a Renault, Ferrari or BMW, and this doesn't seem to be any of those.

Almost all the CART teams around that time bought March chassis but they were often extensively modified, so that's still what I suspect.

Did anybody think about the Honda Spirit cars? 1983-1985

The Spirit cars were built by former March employees, so good chance the chassis has quite a bit in common with the 83C. This one looks like it's got an all aluminium tub though.
