Lotus E22 Pre-launch Speculation

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It's not everything about one person (Allison), I belive Lotus has still their good engineering team, and they have invested a lot of money to their advanced simulator which helped in E21 LWB development...
I'm curious now, because they are again interesting team to keep an eye on, maybe Lotus has prepared suprise and that's why they are missing the Jerez... but it can be struggling aswell, we will see.

Lots of engineers in the team have already left for other teams though, and the first few months of the season is crucial for development, something I think Lotus are going to struggle with this season.

Is (1) shorter on the E20/E21 chassis?
Could (2) be the monocoque's edge ?

That edge is much closer to the hole on the E22.

And it seems to be at an angle whereas on the E20/E21 that area of the engine cover is curved.

is that the mirror in the background?

if so, is it just the angle and because the 'inside' neck protection device is missing, or does it look like the mirrors are positioned fairly high / have long arms?

good to see some updates on the lotus. they're getting all the bashing but together with sauber and caterham are the only ones to show some 'flesh'. getting exited about the leaks and reveals next week[s] :P

Also good that they've apparently given up trying to pretend the gold is accurate, ie pinstripe.
