Mercedes F1 W05 Pre-launch Speculation

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They went to the Ferrari route with the DRS flap ...
From the same image: the pylons look to be somehow connected to the upper flap.
Actually, the whole wing gives the impression to be 3 elements ?!? Probably just the shadows playing with my eyes, but you never know if they found a serious loophole.

But the pylons definitely look to be extended towards the upper flap.

I got a 3 element impression, but I don't know how that could be legal?

Is it bad craftsmanship? It looks like the front of the bulge has a slit as if they couldn't get the top and bottom fit right.

Yeah it`s just an illusion ...
The trailing edge it`s on the same vertical plan with the pylons ...

That is the winglet for the camera pod. me thinks.

The pylons are quite far apart, in the very dark images in the video clip something is lurking between them :wtf:

I think (this means this is a total guess) that the nose dives down like the Ferrari from the chassis, two winglet mounted camera pods, then the nose is similar to Mclarens at the end with the pylons wide but the central ant eater section is flattened not cylindrical.

On the rear wing shirley those two thin pylons are not enough to support the rear wing on their own?

I think those are the nose cone pylons ...
Therefore definitely a narrow nose tip ...

In this picture you could see them better ...
Seems to be a little bit curved inwards, hence to divert the airflow better to the T-tray ...

Yes I agree those are the outlines of the nose cone pylons, so there must be something between them in the dark to form the crash structure.
It will be interesting to see what animal nose form it is in. The narrow nose between, Sauber have a kind of standard beak shape, Mclaren have an anteater, I wonder if Mercedes will have a flatter duck beak?

It's not a narrow nose, the curve is just the camera pods like the McLaren elephant ears.
