Well.. Neweys prediction of many red flags seems quite accurate, at least for his own car

must say, i like this better on him. i got tired of felipe at ferrari, but i'm exited for his williams-stint,
curious to see how he'll perform there, and how bottas will compare.

anyway;

1 J.Button McLaren 1.25.030 29

getting close to the 24's now

alonso in the mid 25's now, too with the Ferrari. looks like Ferrari and Merc engines are doing properly well and they're getting feedback to start getting more performance out of them. reliabilty seems good for the ferrari and mercs.

interestingly, i suspected renault to have the most reliable engine and ferrari the least. seems quite different actually!
i read that newey had a word in the engine devlopment? i dunno if that's true, but imho, that would have been a bad decision knowing newey likes to keep things on the edge and borderline fragile. you don't want that with an engine - even more i wouldn't understand why an aero expert would have any say in engine tech.
and even though it seems trouble isn't in the engine but the electronics, it's part of the package, and merc and ferrari don't have these issues as it seems.

btw, i have serious disbelief now about redbull's supposed spring problems on monday. i wouldn't be surprised if their engine didnt fit either like caterham's. something's not just right imho.

It appears as if McLaren is desperate for headline times. Every time someone goes fast, the McLaren comes out and tops the chart. The hunt for a new title sponsor is quite aggressive.

or, the mclaren is just genuinly fast and so is the merc engine. alonso set his time AFTER mclaren so i wouldn't see too much into that.

and i dont think it has anything to do with sponsoring at all. i think mclaren is pushing like hell for the time they missed when not getting out on track before. and quite frankly, it looks like it's working. i'm sure the amg mercedes team information seeping in to the 'independent' [never completely] mercedes engine tech department goes straight into Mclaren and Williams, to their benefit.

The mclaren looks genuinly fast imho. It shows a lot of potential.

Same as on the first day (first lap) then. He's back out and doing normal times anyway, which would tend to suggest nothing major.

still too early to tell, but looking at the renault troubles, and if the redbull really has suspension troubles,

then i'm starting to think they're not gonna perform as they wanted at AUS. I'm thinking it's gonna be

1. Mclaren
2. Ferrari
3. Mercedes
4. Williams
5. Force India
7. Sauber
8. Toro Rosso
8. RedBull
8. Marussia
9. Lotus
10.Caterham

but don't pick anything out of this, it's really based on nothing but speculation on some days of testing.

no idea how you can even make a list like that

Marussia and Lotus haven't even turned a wheel for instance

What makes you think Lotus is faster than Caterham?

having lost tuesday , 1.5 days each driver
not sure that is best , give the more experienced driver most testing time would be my solution
