Williams FW36 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It's an attempt at getting the same effect as a beam wing, nothing "double diffuserish" about it.
Right! It looks like the wing will have more of an effect on diffuser extraction than on overall upwash as low as it is mounted.

Same deal with the "hot air". Blown diffusers had little to do with hot air.

Another good one, the next time someone says a team is using the hot air outlet to "feed" or "seal" anything i'll bang my head against the wall

Except when we did have a few hot blown diffusers, but seeing as everything that exits a tailpipe is hot its a very weird wording :P

And because hot blowing was better cold blowing, people associate hot air=good for aerodynamics, and now we get "they are using the sidepod outlet to blow 'x' " #-o

Intriguingly Williams has ventured towards a double floor sidepod Arrangement exactly when Toro rosso decided to Abandon that concept....

Let's hope they can continue to work through the issues they had last year and achieve some decent results.

There's a good interview with Pat Symonds in the magazine at the below link:

Well, it looks like the base car last year might have been pretty decent if they hadn't gone down a dead end with their exhaust solution.

Thx for the link!

I wasn't aware that they scrapped tyre blankets for 2014. Great idea imho...

On a side note, maybe someone should proof read that article before it goes to print. :D

they where talking about next year reagarding the tyre warmers and this is not fixed afaik.

Interesting I found:
... A lot of things have got on the car that really shouldn't have gone on the car. (sic)
And Autosport is writing this. http://plus.autosport.com/premium/featu ... -the-aces/

I also read a funny list that Williams is ticking all the right boxes this year. I will believe it when I see it. I think they maybe will be the third strongest Mercedes-Team. But maybe MAL will have to eat a broomstick at the end of the season.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Based on the news in ESPNF1 that willaims might strike a deal with Martini and will run Martini Livery...

good for williams as it helps to hide most of the developments on the car in this livery.

the car might look like below.
