I don't think it is ment that way. The only proposal that was on the table was if the double points would be extended to the last 3 races. This has been killed. Absolutely stupid that the genuine Formula 1 people have to get screwed over just so Bernie can win over fickle fans that will turn their back on the sport at a moments notice.
I'd say it's not about the *hardcore* fans. People like us who follow preseason testing and chat on message boards are going to watch the last race even if the championship is not even close to being contested, like last year.
