Problem is the camera cannot be that far forward. There's a specific area of the car that they need to be placed in.
Are they using an air/water intercooler? that intercooler is placed very far from the sidepods air duct. And where are the exhausts? under the silver schielding, maybe.
Do the cameras have to be placed parallel to each other?bill shoe wrote:I think the little hole in the nose is it. As seen in green circle. But don't they need two cameras and therefore two little holes?
This camera thing is not going to be a big performance differentiator, but if the FIA chooses to not enforce their basic pictures of required camera mount positions then they will look silly.
In the case of the engine cover, it only says they need a camera in position 3. It doesn't state both sides like it does for position 2.wesley123 wrote:No, in the same way as teams aren't forced to run with camera pods on both sides of the engine cover
So only the left hand one needs an unobstructed view forward, exactly as they have done.20.3.4 Any camera or camera housing fitted in the left hand position 2 shown in Drawing 6 must be mounted in order that its major axis where passing through the centre of the camera lens (or corresponding position for a camera housing) does not intersect any part of the car lying forward of the camera or camera housing
I think there are two camera pods in there. I'd be willing to bet that there are two standard FOM camera pods in there under that vanity panel they have over the pods. Remember they only have one camera actually placed on the nose at one time generally. I guess they could simply change the vanity panel to one with the hole on the other side.ACJJ619 wrote:I made this post in the race thread but thought you guys might be interested:
Seeing the Red Bull and reading the rules, it seems the graphic ought to look more like this:

Although having re-read them, I don't see how it can comply with this:
20.3.1 All cars must be equipped with five positions in which cameras or camera housings can be fitted. Referring to Drawing 6, all cars must carry (i) a camera in position 4 and (ii) a camera or camera housing in positions 2 (both sides), 3 and either 1 or 5.
Both sides. So shouldn't it have two holes?
