Is it still allowed to fire only half the cylinders as sort of traction control ? I heard the Redbull having that ugly noise accelerating out of a corner.

The single hole is what intrigues me also, maybe they have the equivalent mounts inside the nose but just with one hole, it's the only explaination i can't see.

To be fair, technically I cannot see anything stating the cameras must actually be usable. They could just stick them in the nose to satisfy the regs and only open up one of them out of good-will.

Exactly, camera mounts, from what i understand from the rules could be just the housing itself.

Just one more loophole RB was smarter to exploit.

Last year following the FP1 in AUS there was a 5 sec spread of the complete field.
This year we see 15 sec to cover 17 out of 22 that were timed.

It is not looking good.

I thought the same, I guess the black on the front it is what it counts as nose. It can go all the way in and the pods mounted on it internally the rest could be just vanity panel. Something like Catherham nose but with the vanity panel on top

Good work from Dan to be 5th fastest .... early days and all that but RBR have clearly made progress since the tests. 8)

The Ferrari looks glued to the race track, the Williams looks quite a handful in comparison.
Red Bull also seems good on fast corners.

Those medium tires can go on forever it seems.

From §20.3.4
"Any camera or camera housing fitted in the left hand position 2 shown in Drawing 6 must be mounted in order that its major axis where passing through the centre of the camera lens (or corresponding position for a camera housing) does not intersect any part of the car lying forward of the camera or camera housing."

So the right hand camera in position 2 is allowed to be completely covered by bodywork?
Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

Well, it depends on the housing space each nose has and how they can rearrange the brake oil reservoirs has but i don't see any major problem doing the same, except lotus maybe.

The worst thing it could happen it's redesign the interior to the point they could need a new nose crash test.

Private session hierarchy looks verified now, Mercedes powered cars are good, Ferrari also. The Mac Laren onboard was very interesting... but those steering wheel

Definetely it seemed to my eyes it is vanity panel RB is using to cover it, can't wait to see some shots of the nosecone interior.

More talking about it here:http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... &start=900
