I think he should be just fine. He's looked the fastest and most comfortable rookie since Lewis first entered F1 and appears to have a very adaptable seat of the pants driving style. For me the biggest question mark will be whether or not he'll be able to manage the rear tyres with the way he's set up the car as that could be the achilles heel in his approach. I'd also expect the odd mistake but that would be utterly understandable as long as it doesn't get to him when it happens and makes him drive more conservatively. Time will tell!bauc wrote:I'm also curios to see how K-Mag will behave in the race.....

Wrong, Button is in the best position, because when in pole there are fewer "safe" choices to make for the leaders, whereas Button, as we have seen in the past, does the complete opposite of what all the fast drivers do and comes out ahead from pure luck. 2010 he pitted early for slicks and promptly went off track and barely made it out of the gravel trap, but because he knew he was hopelessly down on pace he went with the alternate strategy at every opportunity and it came up gold for him, same as in Canada 2011. Rain, and thus yellow flags, turn these type of races into crap shoots sometimes.Helios wrote:Hamilton is in the best possible position to win the race, not just because he's starting from pole, but because he has Ricciardo behind him who could potentially hold up Rosberg (in case the RB10 is no match in tomorrow's race).
On the other hand, it could go really wrong just like it did in 2012 where he messed up the start and was in a defensive role until the very last lap. A win in the first race of the season would be so extremely important, let's hope he get's everything right. It's about high time for a second WDC for Hamilton.
Webber...i like the guy but I was never impressed...he had to be way past it....likable guy, but he certainly made life very easy for vetteloT v1 wrote:Will certainly say a lot about Webber in the previous 3 seasonsrifrafs2kees wrote:Not vettel's fan but I wouldn't think less of his championships than I do already if ricci beats him or turns out to be a heck of a challenge. Only really with regards to his adaptability to the blown diffuser. Vettel's a very quick driver but in my opinion, and this is very much just an opinion, he was somewhat flattered by the blown diffuser and fragile Pirelli tyres perfectly suiting his style whilst having a car best able to exploit those traits. Webber's lack of love for the blown diffuser and inability to fully adapt to it contributed to making Vettel look exceptional on track.oT v1 wrote:Will certainly say a lot about Webber in the previous 3 seasons
Wrong. If you asked them if they'd like to switch places then I doubt Hamilton would agree and that Button would much rather be on pole.Powershift wrote:Wrong, Button is in the best position, because when in pole there are fewer "safe" choices to make for the leaders, whereas Button, as we have seen in the past, does the complete opposite of what all the fast drivers do and comes out ahead from pure luck. 2010 he pitted early for slicks and promptly went off track and barely made it out of the gravel trap, but because he knew he was hopelessly down on pace he went with the alternate strategy at every opportunity and it came up gold for him, same as in Canada 2011. Thank you for expressing my feelings on the mattermyurr wrote:Only really with regards to his adaptability to the blown diffuser. Those advantages have been taken away and whilst I still fully expect Vettel to be a super quick top 5 driver and unbeatable on his day, my own opinion is that he will not be in a class of his own as has been the case in his championship years.
I'd probably agree with you on Button but Vettel looked off colour all session but especially so when it rained. He was 2.4 seconds slower than his team mate in Q2 and that was cannot be entirely down to the yellow flag. He wasn't settled and the worst the yellow flag did was fluster him. He knew he needed to put in a stellar lap to make up for that sector and then over drove the car and made mistakes. Without the yellow he may have just about squeezed in to the top 10 but there was no way he'd be challenging for the top 3 and I reckon even the top 5 would have been a stretch.Exca wrote:Otherwise I'm pretty sure that Button and Vettel had the pace to be on the top 5.
Small deception in williams...
Yh i was careful to restrict it to the last 3 years.myurr wrote:Only really with regards to his adaptability to the blown diffuser.oT v1 wrote:Will certainly say a lot about Webber in the previous 3 seasons
