All the drivers making it off the grid safely
There were murmurs ahead of this race that one or two teams might have trouble getting off the start line smoothly, such are the differences between this year’s turbocharged power units and last year’s V8s. If there are any particularly slow starts the chances of a start-line or first-corner incident will increase dramatically.

Any ideas which teams they are talking about? My guess is the first team is Red Bull but the other?

My bet would actually be on the Mercedes cars. The Ferrari engine appears to be the most drivable. The Merc seems to be the most balls out powerful.

I believe it was all the Renault powered teams. It was rumoured at one of the tests that they couldn't do racing starts as the power delivery was so savage it would make the gearbox explode.

With Massa you can see it: Vettel and Bottas did the mid-fuel-longruns and Ric and Mas did the high-fuel-longruns. Ric gained 8 sec in 13 laps of his run on Massa. Vet and Bot did quite similar with Vettel doing 4 laps more, so probably more fuel.
Because they are irrelevant/incomparable, Massa was on a different program/much longer run 20 laps (1.3.. laps), Vettel/Bottas 14/15. It's not about team average and proving points but sound conclusions and avoiding garbage in - garbage out.
Sorry, but Massa did a 20 lap stint and Ric and Vet did 22 and 25 lap race simulations without refueling.

8h to go...so no more Redbull conspirators for me...

Watching the wet laps it looks like all the Mercedes cars didn't have any trouble with drivability. Especially the Mercs. The Renault engined cars however... Well they were a different story. Riciardo was the only one that looked good, but then he was hustling as well. No idea how much his time came from him/car/tyres as he was on inters when Mercs where on wets.

That reminds me, anyone got the sector times from Ham/Ros/Ric laps for Q3? Would like to see where people were quick.

I´m gonna watch the post Qual again but i´m fairly sure Horner felt that the Inters was the faster compound.

Also as i´m re-watching the qual quickly, particularly Q1.

1.30.775 - Ricciardo Soft compound.

+ 9 tenths for Hamilton on Mediums. (and did another run, set the fastest time in Sector 1, then went off in the area everyone had problems with, can´t remember the corner)

So he´s 9 tenths away from Ricciardo on a 2 second slower compound. With it being Q1 i would assume the fuel loads are more or less the same.

This in theory means that Mercedes could have as much as a second on the Red Bull in one lap pace in the dry.
It doesn´t have to mean that but i think that the above numbers is one hell of an eyebrow-raiser in my opinion.

Accoeding to Omicorse.it, Rosberg had a huge spark discharge from his car during qualifying. They posted a pic, but I can't really tell. Anyone have qualifying recorded to double check??

Thanks Sidney, but unfortunately that doesn't hold the information I was looking for. Although it's interesting to see that Hamiltons lap on the Mediums was pretty much the quickest of the field until the last sector where he lost a lot of time. I'm guessing a mistake+tyres would account for that. Very impressive really.

Wow. That's crazy. Good thing though is that it doesn't look like a battery or PU discharge. Looks more like a short somewhere in the cockpit. Still, very odd.
