I was wondering if there is such hardware in any of racing engines!? Very interesting btw. for space conservation, design of piston crown etc. Didn't hear any of F1 engines have that.? Google says only some patents...

I believe there was some discussion of this topic in the last year two.

Superficially attractive but a reliability/robustness nightmare. Plus having your spark in the exact centre of the spray may not be optimal.
