If you ask me, they shouldn't reorganize anything. Success is built on stability within the team, not by sacking everyone and starting over again because it didn't work in the first 6 months.

But they need a stable workable structure in the first place. Which, just happens to be Mattiaci's speciality.

Starting point would be establishing if he was involved at all in any meaningful way. I think his role was discussed when figuring out "designers" of F14T in some thread here. My suspicion was that next to his support as a consultant whatever it means he provided strong marketing support as a throwback to good old times (recognisable name) and proof that "we're doing whatever it takes".

I'm not questioning his involvement I have to information about it of course apart from obvious - other names involved much, much more - I'm just saying this angle also exists. Point is: I wouldn't connect Byrne with success or failure of either 2014 or 2015 car.

The new deal that Alonso is REPORTEDLY seeking, could drive anyone crazy. I guess that's the budget of Marussia or some other team for a whole season. The question really is, is it worth for Ferrari to pay so much and keep him? If I, in position of Montezemolo, is EXTREMELY CONFIDENT that my engineering team is churning out another DOG for 2015, I would definitely keep Alonso to save the face. If Scuderia Ferrari are confident of producing race winning car, they really don't have to then worry for spending so much money on one individual and should hire another top driver, of course, with lesser economic burden, who might not be an Alonso, but given the right equipment, can win races and championship.

But you can also see it the other way, why waste that kind of money on a driver, only to steer a dog with no chance of winning?

Pay the man. He makes a terrible car look decent and can win in a poor car. Money Ferrari has. Efficient organization? Not so much.
