According to TIlke, "...there will be an extremely narrow uphill section at the old town wall that will reward pinpoint accuracy and courage..."

Translation: "...there will be no racing along the narrow uphill section at the old town wall..."

Tilke also expects the main straight to be 2.2km long, so I guess he's saying it starts at T17?

Translation: There will be a SC if there's so much as a nudge at that bit, and the track will be blocked if a car stops there.

@ the Picture from Juzh: I very much doubt they will Race on Cobbletones, and just put Tarmac on that would be a shame. Plus it looks too narrow to race for me.

It's been posted on F1F. It goes along with what tilke said about a narrow section?

Another post from there:

For now, you can watch this video, and stop at 1:10 (east part of the route), 2:44 (fast straight to the east), 2.51 (east part), 3.24 (fast straight), 3.25 (east end of the route), 3.31 (fast straight), 8.05 (the north part of the west), 8.15 (the north part of the west), 18:44 (general viw of Baku at night), 18:52-19:00 (fast straight on board camera view), 19:05 (east side upper route), 19:24 (east side), 19:30 (west side), 19:34 (east side), 19:55 (east side). What I couldn’t show you is the very interesting part of the route (the west part, the best part), and let it remain a surprise for you ;)

Here´s the height map for the whole circuit, gif would not work for some reason..
The "mountain" is from T12 to T15, in that area.

This seems to be the view from T12 back to T11 and the towers that make T8 to T10 that narrow.

Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

That's an optimistic render I think, barriers will be a lot higher.

I have created a rough version of the circuit for rFactor (I know, old tech!) and have recorded a flying lap of the circuit using the standard rFactor Formula IS car.

Buildings are more placeholders and are not accurate, although I tried to give a sense of building size in certain areas. I also tried to incorporate areas with trees accurately too. All buildings (pit building included) have been outsourced. Circuit includes broadly accurate elevation profiling as well. Also there is no catch fencing as I have not been able to locate a catch fencing for the program I use to create circuits. Finally, I tried to match the car basic car set up with the stated max speed of 340km/h.

This was really only done to get a feel of how the circuit drove and how the elevation profile around the old town effected the characteristics of the circuit. I think Baku is quite a nice looking city so TV shots will be quite nice, although the circuit as a whole may have not much to offer drivers.

Wow. That looks like the offspring you'd expect to see if Valencia, Singapore, and Sochi somehow joined in an unholy union without contraceptives.

Kill it with fire!

(Great sim work, though. Cheers.)

See, why in the hell can't I up vote this post? What a stupid system we have on this forum.

Anyway, great work sir! The elevation changes certainly make some sections quite interesting.
