Third car is a bad idea honestly, it's a death sentence to the small teams.

B teams would be a better solution, Red Bull already has one and it's the only small constructor who is completely safe.

What about going to Forza Rossa as lead driver and partial owner?

Totally off the wall but that would be very ambitious
Ambitious - Partial Owner I can understand, but lead driver who finishes second to last?

This... =D>
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Renault is bringing Mario Illien to help it's V6, while facing rumors that without Lotus and Caterham the math doesn't work anymore.

Marcus Ericsson confirmed at Sauber for 2015.

Perhaps even a further downgrade for Sauber, but if it is necessary for their survival it's what they have to do.

I really do not understand this at all. Are you saying its ok for Red Bull to fund 4 cars, but not 5?
In your proposal of bigger teams having secondary B teams, did it occur that costs would be the same as today, and the small teams would die anyways?

3 car teams make alot of sense in the interim, and while they race, F1 can work on a plan to attract other teams wishing to enter on a more stable basis.

I agree 3 car teams make sense, and filling that position with a rookie / salary capped driver would be the best way forward. Should they be awarded Championship points etc? Sure why not, every driver in the field deserves an opportunity to be in the hunt for the championship.

With Marussia and Caterham almost certainly folding the 3rd car in lets say Mercedes, IRBR, Ferrari, Williams could utilise their bargaining power to purchase some of the staff that will be adversely effected by those two teams demise (Marussia / Caterham).
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

In the small teams i include Williams and Force India which would eventually die if all they had to play was who doesn't finish last, in an F1 that has 12 factory cars.

B teams have stability, like STR they would become contructors in their own right, it's not some temporary solution that no one knows when it ends and can have catastrophic consequences while active.

So then maybe Formula 1 should adopt something similar to MotoGP's new system?

A factory category and an "open" class category for teams like Sauber, FI, Lotus?

E.G:
Teams operating under ‘Open Class’ regulations are independent teams who benefit from less restrictive rules on the number of engines allowed per season and a greater fuel allowance. The machinery can vary greatly, from purpose built race bikes that resemble prototype machinery, to independent chassis with either GP-spec or highly tuned road engines. The ‘Open Class’ will however run with the spec Magneti Marelli software across all teams.

Re: Scuderia Ferrari Team 2014

Is there any merit to the idea that Alonso has had inside information for a long time now regarding 3 car teams, and then when it's implemented, having a best option choice between Ferrari, RB, Macca, and Merc? Is that why maybe he keeps saying that when he announces his move for next year everyone will understand his silence.

Once again JEV proves he's too slow to deserve a top drive and gets beaten into Q2 by a rookie!

Frankly he'll be lucky if he keeps his drive at TR just so he can provide some stability to the team for next year!

Yea Kvyat is seriously dominating right now with one position higher in Qualifying and less then half the points over the season.
They should promote him to F1 President with those types of performances.

The kid is on his 7th power unit, it's hardly surprising he has less points than JEV.
