EJ was the one who started everything if I recall well.
And Alonso looks really relaxed about the situation having the risk of not driving next year.
The only ones desperate about the situation is Mclaren whom look like kids.
If Mclaren have been always the only option Alo would have signed just when Vettel announced he was out of Redbull.
The curious thing of this it is when Toto was talking about Alo options back on Oct when he stated Alo should go to Mclaren with a get-out clause or consider 1 year sabbatical. It is one of the first time was mention sabbatical. Why Toto would talk about that with so much precision? it is something has intrigued me always.

So many unknowns.....

Hamilton is contracted to Mercedes. So is Rosberg.

They are easily the most desirable seats to any driver at the moment.

Alonso has 'sort of quit' Ferrari, he probably really, badly wants to drive for Mercedes.

Hamilton, a month ago has been publicly unhappy with Mercedes on a number of occasions this year. This would potentially open up a seat there if he decided to quit the team due to a poor result or a perceived preferential treatment towards Rosberg.

It is generally thought that Hamilton has a home at McLaren should he want it and as probably the highest profile driver of the moment, it is pretty much a certainty that Honda would dig deep to sign him.

So it all revolves around that, Hamilton is contracted to the end of 2015, after a year of learning, Honda might well be very competitive in 2016. If Mercedes have a less than stellar year next year, Hamilton to McLaren-Honda is pretty likely.

Alonso probably does not want to commit to a drive beyond the possibilities of a seat at Mercedes. Hamilton is yet to commit to 2016 and beyond and if it all goes badly for him in the next two races, might just walk.

Then there is the question regarding Alonso's contract at Ferrari and who will buy who out ? If as thought there are three drivers now contracted, at some point Ferrari might need to pay one of them to not drive, or maybe lead the charge at LeMans......

So much drama....

None of which has anything to do with racing. Formula One is now like a soap opera - All My Children, perhaps. Or As The Stomach Turns. :? :wtf:
Some men go crazy; some men go slow. Some men go just where they want; some men never go.

1...the beginning)The verbal contract was Honda was going to buy out Alonso's Ferrari contract and give Alonso a 3 +1 year contract for around 30 million a year.

2....somebody jumped ship too soon)When Vettel announced he was leaving RB and RB signed another driver the same day.
Alonso didn't take that nicely because he was still a signed contract driver with Ferrari(hasn't signed the Mclaren deal yet and might have never because his plans was Mercedes). So with Ferrari verbally signing Vettel kinda missed up his plans. If he can't get a Mercedes seat then he has a choice of Ferrari or Mclaren. Now if he can't get the Mercedes seat,he left with only Mclaren or sit out a year.

3)Alonso really doesn't want to seat out a year but Mclaren will not offer a one year deal(Honda wants him but Dennis will not kiss his ass and give him what he wants)

He did.

For the first time in a long time, an F1 team is doing things right and allowing Button to very reluctantly announce his own departure. The Alonso & Button announcements will come before Abu Dhabi. Vettel is to be unveiled in Abu Dhabi at a joint Ferrari & ADI event.

On a sidenote, as commented on a previous page and now by the man himself, VDG has/had a deal in place at Sauber, as does/did Sutil.

Any source to confirm that. He said yesterday he is considering to renew with Ferrari. Until it is not announced it is not official. If not source you are speculating.

By all means take it as speculation if you wish, and I will check back in 14 days. :)

My source has stated that the Mclaren + Alonso deal is finally done.

Should hear about it the week before the last GP.

It was so much easier when the new WDC was unceremoniously sacked at the end of the season. That would have saved us a lot of fingers in recent years!

Yep I posted that yesterday as it was highlighted by spanish press, today his speech sounded more like a good bye to Ferrari saying there is live after Ferrari as Massa has shown this year and he had great years at Ferrari.
So the silliness is coming to and end soon.
Still I believe his best option is to finish his contract with Ferrari and see how everything evolves in one year time.

Maybe it is actually Vettel who has contract with Honda?
