Brilliant visualization!
So risk at the very top where positions pay big points and performance pays clean strategies, risk at the bottom where there is nothing to lose and conservative mediocrity in between. Interesting, one of those impossible riddles of which is the cause and which is the effect? One could argue that if you are regularly taking 6 points home, you are doing something consistantly wrong...

The comparison to ultimate pace is quite interesting. Would it be possible to add a line for the winners of the last few years (Red Bull), to see how Merc are doing in comparison?

Awesome, Thanks! Interesting, so Merc are on par with Red Bull in 2011, when they were at their most dominant.

No problem! Yup, and it´s the somewhat suspect reliability of the Mercedes that has caused it.
The 2011 Red Bull had 2 retirements for the whole season whereas the Mercedes has had 5 and we´re probably not seeing the last one just yet.

Say 4 retirements as one was driver related. The RB7 was damn near bullet proof.
