why sparks are flying

pretty clear to all that although engine problems are a primary reason for the drop off in the RBR performance in 2015 there is more to it than that ; if you compare the relative performance of Toro Rosso with the same engine the gap has closed considerably
so it seems that the titanium plates are achieving their primary objective of stopping the cars being run too low against the FIA rules , wear rate comparison looks very interesting
no wonder sparks are flying at RBR !
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

No, no, no, no, no. You must not have gotten the memo.

Red Bull's problems are all Renault's fault. It has nothing to do with the inevitable pratfall of any team who tends to rely on infringing "the spirit" of rules that are regularly clarified.

Renault's problems even go as far as causing Mercedes and Ferrari sparks!

Renault, the rotten apple of the manufacturers.

He wasn't saying that the blocks are causing the engine problems, he was saying that that blocks are preventing Red Bull from running their car with the same ground clearance philosophy as previous years. This is why he is talking about the gap between Torro Rosso and Red Bull closing. I'm not defending or attacking his supposition, but it seems to me you have missed his point.

It was a joke, read the RBR team thread and all will become clear. :)

It seems you on your turn missed the joke :P.

In all seriousness, I really don't believe the new skid blocks are hampering Red Bull, or any other team. If we'd go 4 years back and introduce those at that point, then yes: then it would have been an issue.

However, teams nowadays are much more able to control the ride height of the splitter, along different fuel loads and even braking. Scarbs already mentioned the use of flexible splitter stays. All within legal bounds, and red bull is by far not the only team using that.
