Purely speculation, but perhaps to simulate the wheel weighting without actually having (or not wanting to reveal) the size or design of the final alloy wheel(s) that will be on the car.

Was kind of hoping that this wouldn't be this shape and maybe they would go a tad more aggressive. But I'll reserve full judgement until I've seen proper pictures.

They look like dynamometric wheels. They have sensors in them which measure the wheel centre forces and moments.

this looks strange. it definetly does not looks like the classier DB9 which I loved to death.
