Really? That's a pretty rotten attitude. Venuzuela is in pretty bad shape.
yep, and it all Maldonados fault.

But at least there are enough Contras on the F1 forums...

Maldonado confirmed he will not be on the grid in 2016. That effectively excludes him from the Manor seat this year as well.

"As everyone knows, in recent days, there have been a number of rumours about my immediate future in Formula 1," he said.

"Today I most humbly inform you I will not be present on the starting grid for the 2016 F1 season."

"Thanks for all your messages of support, passion and concern for my future.

"I feel very honoured, with the support of all of you and proud of my professional performance.

"I thank God, my family, my sponsors, my friends, my fans and all who have helped me realise this great dream of being able to represent Venezuela in the pinnacle of motorsport.

"See you soon."

So I presume the closed cockpits idea gets ditched now.

That fee would pay their engines for the entire season, and help the team galvanise for future championships.
Maldonado would remain, and PDVSA will halve their investment to retain their interest in the sport.
And we get to debate about just how "terrible" Pastor is. Win, win, win, win.

The losers would obviously be Wehrlein, or any other driver who'd be incumbent in the seat.
But, Wehrlein is a Mercedes protege and current DTM champion, so he'll likely end up at the silverarrows in the not too distant future.
THe Manor seat is worth 15 million... so he can beat Hanryato to it still!

The thought of Maldonado popping up on an IndyCar oval genuinely scares the crap out of me, and probably would the other drivers as well.

Award for the ballsiest team of the season, would be the WEC team that recruits him as a driver.
